Well, this certainly is looking much better than the first one. http://www.apple.com/trailers/sony_pictures/spider-man_2/trailer/index.html
Excellent trailer. Infinitely better than that teaser from a few months back. Good to see Raimi is remaining relatively faithful to the source material as well. Can't wait to see more direct lifts from the panels to the screen.
the first one was only ok for me, but sad to say, the trailer does look good. sad to say a lot of this years trailers for sequels look good... (that means more sequels in general) i heard they are making a sequel to dungeons and dragons.
Yeah. That was good. Seems like they are tying the stories together which is something batman failed to do.
Wow, that looks good. Wow. One thing though -- anyone else sick of action films that have music with a full choir in them? It's so cliche now ... Anyway, can I just say one more time how great the casting of Tobey was in this movie? He's a great Peter Parker. So-so Spidey, but being such a great Parker is what makes the movie. I think that's where they screwed up with the Batman movies -- and maybe where they're getting it right with Bale. A good Bruce Wayne is key to a good Batman movie.
IMHO, the verdict isn't in yet. I'll agree that he was FANTASTIC as high school nerd Parker, but afterwards his portrayal was pretty bland. Peter grows as a person a lot in the comics and this wasn't handled as well as it could have been in the first movie. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt though, and chalk that up to the script. Another thing that irked me and is really glaring after repeated viewings is the lack of character for Parker's alter-ego. One of Spider-Man's main traits is his humor, yet he only cracks one joke during the entire first movie and comes off as even more of a dork than Parker normally is sometimes. If they improve on that, and stay fairly close to Stan Lee and company's old stories (which it appears they are), then it will be perfect. Give Jameson more screentime too!
I thought he nailed it in the very last scene when he talked about responsibility and walked away from Gwen. I thought it showed that he grew a ton. Totally agree. That's why I think he's only a so-so Spidey. Maybe it was the script, but that whole aspect was missing. But what do I know? I always liked DC better.
I love the whole "the ones I love will always be the one's that are hurt" voiceover during the trailer.
It looks good, but I would've watched it regardless of what the trailer looked like. I thought the first one was so-so, hope this one is a little better.
My only criticism is probably going to be the same as the first one...Spiderman's movements just look too damn cartoon-y. Other than that I'm sure it will be great.
I never could get over that. It really bugged the crap out of me. The story looks better in this one but even in the trailer the movement looks terrible.
I agree. He grew a ton in that first movie. The walk away scene at the end underlining the subtle changes he made growing from an immature boy into a man. I thought the spidy movement were cool. My only criticism was the mask of the goblin. In my opinion that was a horrendous gaff.
I loved the trailer. Especially the tossing the suit in the trash. Straight out of the comic. Great to see on the screen. Khan: nice slip with the Gwen Stacey reference. I wish it had been her instead of skipping straight to MJ Watson like they did. I thought the first film was pretty okay. I liked it because I like superheroes and because it wasn't flat dumb like all the Batman movies (the Burton ones were only less horrible than the Schumacher ones) and the last two Superman movies. I'd rank it third after Superman I and II, just ahead of X-Men which I found to be very dry. I haven't seen X2 or the Hulk. I'm with Khan. DC guy from way back, but with a special affection for Spiderman and the Fantastic Four. I appreciated the Claremont-Byrne X-Men (and Alpha Flight and New Mutants), but never went nuts for it like I did for New Teen Titans or the Satellite-era JLA. I think the new Batman movie's gonna be the best superhero movie ever, but Spiderman 2 looks really good.
Speaking of Fantastic 4, have you heard this yet BJ? They've picked the director, Tim Story of Barbershop. Michael Chicklis is rumored to be the top choice for Ben Grimm AKA "The Thing." Tim Robbins seems to be the first choice for Dr. Doom. Here's a script review from the Latino Review. http://latinoreview.com/scriptreviews/fantasticfour/script-review.html
