Austinite's, I will be heading your way late Thursday. I'll be rolling in at around 11 to see a buddy of mine play at The Vibe (Tell me about this joint) at midnight. Their band is Sundowner. Anyone else going out for SXSW? Anyone wanna grab a beer Friday morning?
Im not going this year because I am broke, and because we have a gig in Lake Charles, LA damn damn damn
Friday morning? Gotta love that. The Vibe used to be Fat Tuesday's, I believe, which was a HUGE bar. I believe the stage is outdoors. I haven't been there since the conversion, but it sounds cool. If the weather is good it should be sweet.
Damn Drewdog, why couldn't your gig have been last weekend? Corey and I were sorta discussing a trip to Lake Chuck during the game.
Vibe used to be Empire, a Hip-hop dance club a few years back I think. I haven't been since, but alot of good bands have played there over the last year. Lil Flip actually had a show there last fall. It's too bad you guys aren't performing. I think we'd all head out to watch a live acoustic version of "Whats on your Head."
Go to LC this weekend..... Should be a good gig. The bar is supposed to be pretty popular and stuff.... crap-ola. I think we are playing Huntsville the Saturday after this one (March 22nd).
Can't and can't. Got a wedding this weekend, then next weekend is March Madness and a Zac Maloy CD release party here in Dallas.
Compared to what it used to be, SXSW is a complete joke. I wish it had continued its tradition of being a really cool place to see un-signed artists try to make a name for themselves. Now, it's just a big corporate shmooze-fest where they charge WAY too much money for everything.
Jeff and I have posted this before. Back in the day, SXSW was awesome. Now it is nothing more than an excuse for record execs to get loaded for a week straight and ring it all up on their expense accounts. I wouldn't attend SXSW nowadays if you paid me.
