Hollins has only been a successful head coach one place, Memphis. Everywhere else he has struggled. The fact that Joerger has done so well in Memphis also has taken some of the shine off of Hollins. In the past Hollins has had zero interest in being an assistant. If he has softened on that stance, and the Rockets are willing to open their pocket books, Lionel would be an exceptional Assistant Head Coach. He and Van Gundy would get along well.
My not so good thoughts are Morey promotes Chris Finch to head coach and hires Collins as an assistant coach. Not what I would want to see. Morey recently mention Chris and his offensive plays.
Horford & Durant ain't coming. Jeff Green plays for the Clippers. JaMychal Green plays for the Grizzlies.
Probably not, but it's the possibility that keeps me going until mid July. Green played for Memphis last season prior to LAC. JaMychal is raw and not frustrating yet. Jeff is very frustrating but can provide an occasional 20 pointer. Jeff Green is a FA, JaMychal is not.
Wasn't this the same kind of song and dance we heard when Morey hired McHale? That it was OK that McHale wasn't strong in the X's and O's of coaching as long as his assistant coaches were? That things would be fine? And just how did that work out, hmm? Collins is a very good coach that wouldn't get a fair shake here not with Morey and Les looking over his shoulder because his ideas about how basketball should be played are too different from theirs.
He did, although never under Hollins. We don't need anymore "frustrating", low IQ, low basketball character players. I mean, we could keep Josh Smith & Dwight Howard & Corey Brewer & the current Rockets. Pass on Jeffrey Green.
Exactly.... Durant? BWHAHHA The Rockets need to immediately throw the max at Horford, Conley, Whiteside and Batum ..... and hope that they get two of them to bite.... then look out for guys like Gerald Green, OJ Mayo, Jared Dudley or Nene Hilario and see if they can get any of them cheap. The Rockets are not getting Durant or James or Drummond. They are just not attractive enough after this seasons **** show.
I do agree with you on the Karl scenario, but you also have to take into account that the so called good coaches also have the backing of the GM and the owner.. The problem with players today is that if they don't like something they go straight to the GM and the GM will let them have their way... So the coach loses respect and control. T_Man

I would like dantoni with hollins as defensive coordinator. Then i would sign ish smith or jeremy lin bc he would thrive in this system. Along with listen to hollins on defense
It makes me think the worse thing that can may happen. Not sure what Morey or Less have going on in the brain. I do not think either one of those coaches could please Harden much less Durant.
is hollins a better candidate than jvg? if not (imo he's not), then why?? i keep coming to this board everyday, hoping to see the news that jvg has been hired. the longer i wait, the less hope it feels.
First, really appreciate the CyberX update! Second, I have cooled on Lionel Hollins. I liked the idea of him as a defensive "assistant" with McHale, but as head coach, I just think he is too stubborn and not flexible enough. I think he could change the culture initially, but might wear on players eventually and they would tune him out. Hollins seemed to also not get along with the front offices in Memphis and Brooklyn and that is a concern. More CyberX updates, please! =)
I love the quotes and Hollins is spot on. I highly doubt he and Morey could get along though so while I'd love him here, not gonna happen.
