He’s been playing pretty well last few years once he got in the right system.

I never said I wanted him, but knowing how the NBA is changing and players who can’t shoot are being minimized. It is a good question to ask.

Would you rather have Clint Capela?
Or Trevor Ariza and Javale McGee and whatever draft pick we could have traded Capela for which we could try to flip for Jimmy Butler?

I'm not sure there has ever been more than that though. 7 footers that can run and chew bubblegum at the same time have always been exceedingly rare.

I have always loved him as a player and never understood ppl who think if someone appears on shaqtin a fool that automatically means the guy is not a good player

no where near a starting caliber full time center. if you're talking about some bench piece, that's a different story.

I am obviously not trying to compare Tucker's impact to Harden's. The point is, if we have a weak defense, the solution should be getting MORE good defenders, not getting RID of good defenders.

I don't think Morey is that dumb, thinking we could abandon our defensive identity and still be in serious contention. He might have underestimated the impact to our defense by the change of the team makeup. But I am willing to give it some time to see how this team gels. But getting rid of one of our best defender is not going the right direction.

My view about this Jimmy Butler deal is that I like Butler's overall game. He can replace Gordon's offense. He can probably replace Tucker's defense. But he can't replace the sum total of those two guys' value. In other words, he can't play starting PF AND backup CP3 and Harden at the same time.

just found it strange that u would say something like this

When Harden didn't have help on offense, should we just trade him because his importance was not that great without the right offensive team around him?

Harden shouldn’t be traded under any circumstance because of the caliber of player that he is, the same does not apply to Tucker.

If the Rockets continue to struggle and have a pathetic defense, then is Tucker really that indespensible for Jimmy Butler? I think that’s where those people are coming from.

i think he was saying that as an example to illustrate the bad defense, so trade your best defensive player thoughts that have been posted

I don't want to trade Tucker. But I understand the position for anyone that wants to take willing to move Tucker in a Butler deal.

I get that but wings are more important in today’s NBA. Which teams even have good centers. If you don’t have Anthony Davis you are playing small ball. So I think the value is that we could have resigned Trevor and Luc instead of Capela and gotten McGee to play spot minutes at center. And we could have traded Capela for a first rounder to use in a Jimmy Butler trade.

So is Butler Ariza Luc McGee > Capela Gordon MCW Ennis

A big factor in all this is CP3 age. Our window is closing fast so having older players is not an issue.

I get it...just disagree with using trading Harden as a counterpoint since he’s a franchise player that u don’t ever trade

I can see where those people are coming from. If our defense isn’t at an elite level like it was last season then we’re damn sure not beating GS, so u might as well take the risk and give up PJ if it allows u to acquire a 3rd star in Butler who is also a great defender in his own right.

Capela has more trade value by a very large margin than both of those guys combined. Not even close.. and bringing up the JB hypothetical is silly.

wings are important but that doesn't mean you just field a team full of it. if someone believes all the nonsense that someone on this board has been spewing for years now and his so called spreadsheets, then yeah you would turn your head to CC's role. but reality is that he is effective and very important to what the Rockets have become to this point.

GS just happens to be a historic outlier where they have 4 elite guys outside of their "starting" 5 spot. nvm the cousins aspect for the sake of this discussion. We know Ariza left bc of the $. We have no idea why LMM left. its anyone's guess but he could very well have not wanted to play here anymore for whatever reason. The rockets have a specific plan to take out GS which nearly worked and that included CC. Until someone else provides a bigger sample of success than Hou vs GS, everyone in the league is still guessing what will work in taking them out in a 7 games series.

Exactly though but even more so today in my opinion. That’s my point anyway though it’s rare to get good centers

But according to holic capela is easily replaceable

So I take this as you think McGee is as good as Capella, not attacking you I am just asking, and I wont probe any further.
