"The Denver Nuggets' resistance to trading star forward Carmelo Anthony is fading away, according to sources with knowledge of Denver's thinking...." Source & rest of article: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=5594741&campaign=rss&source=NBAHeadlines Lock if already posted.
Huge distraction. Take the Nuggets out of the playoff race, no way in hell they make it in the tough West with so much uncertainty
Someone obviously think they are still on another forum lol. Majority of people here would rather watch basketball than football, otherwise we wouldn't be on the NBA dish on a Sunday after the Texans won a game.
Top flight young player= Brooks + Salary-cap relief= trade exception + Multiple future first round draft picks= New York's 2 first round draft picks = Carmelo
Woj summed it up best -- there's been no reason to put Melo "on the block". Teams have been coming to Denver all summer with offers.
I still say that NYK is the only place where he will sign an extension and without the extension, they won't get much. In fact, those offers are probably have more trash than treasure giving the necessary contract match. So it is back to NYK's Curry + some meh pieces or nothing. NY is not going send anyone they can use as they can wait another year. They already have Amare to sell tickets. Plus they will pay less for Melo if they wait a year. Though I can see them giving the Curry, Gallinari, $3 million cash and a very distant #1st for getting him a year earlier. It would be worth it to them since Gallinari plays the same position, getting rid of Curry is a definite plus and generating even more excitement around the Knicks. Who knows, they may make some noise around the playoffs. Denver has very little bargaining power at this point. By all media reports, Melo is willing to wait. NY is willing to wait. So it's Gallinari, a $8+ million salary+tax savings and a distant pick - or nothing. If Denver does trade Melo to NY and the fact that we only have Yao for 24 minutes during the regular season will not help our 2011 pick. If fact the Rocket's 2011 pick may very well be their own.
