The St. Louis Cardinals have reached agreement on a trade with Toronto that will send third baseman Scott Rolen to the Blue Jays for third baseman Troy Glaus, two major league sources said.

    Scott Rolen

    Rolen

The deal will be completed once the two players undergo physical exams Monday, sources said.

Since the trade also includes a financial component, it's also subject to the approval of commissioner Bud Selig. It's uncertain which club is receiving money in the deal, or how much cash is changing hands.

Rolen, 32, is a career .283 hitter and seven-time Gold Glove winner with Philadelphia and St. Louis. He had a well-publicized falling out with manager Tony La Russa that set trade talks in motion.

Glaus, 31, has 277 career homers in 10 seasons with the Los Angeles Angels, Arizona Diamondbacks and Blue Jays. He hit 20 homers and drove in 62 runs in 115 games with Toronto last season.

The trade was first reported by foxsports.com.

Jerry Crasnick is a senior baseball writer for ESPN.com.

Isn't Glaus on Roids or HGH?

    (like it matters.)

Are we sure that one or both can pass a physical?

They both have been injured often in recent years.

Is there any team that's done less than the Cardinals this offseason?

So each team is trading fading stars who miss multiple games each year due to injuries.

    Awesome.

I don't think Glaus could carry Rolen's jock strap. I think he is waaaaaay overrated.

Last year, both of them missed about 50 games, but Glaus's season was far superior to Rolen's. 20 HRs vs 8, a few more RBIs/Runs, higher OBP, much higher slugging, etc. Rolen's better defensively, of course.

I was never worried as much about Rolen as I was Edmonds...and he's gone, too.
