http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4295858 Looks like Boozer is staying in Utah a bit longer.
Thats good if Boozer stays, Jazz fans hate him...also then they might have to let go of Milsap or Okur...
I predicted last summer Boozer would not opt out. His offensive playoff performance against the Lakers a year ago chopped his value and chance at a near-max contract. The way he killed the Jazz' chemistry after returning late this season didn't help either. Boozer has peaked and will only go downhill from here. His offense will decline, he never has played any defense and injuries are a big part of his equation. The one thing he can be counted on to do is rebound (when healthy). I'm with you Egghead.
Well he won't get any sympathy from me. It's one thing to look out for yourself and another to bamboozered the Cavs like he did.
$12.7 million is a lot, but with his injury history, and with a lot better players being free agents next year, he needs to think really hard about opting out. So he gets a 4 or 5 year deal starting around $8 million instead of the $12.7 million. That's still better then getting injured again, perhaps more permanently, or only getting the MLE next year because of the glut of great FA's, etc.
i still think he should opt out there are hardly any FAs out there right now and some teams may sit on their cap space but there are always teams wanting to use it to show that they are making a move to appease their fan base. Next year with all the FAs on the market Boozer is going to be one of the last men standing and will get probably a smaller contract than this year. If he stays he cripples the jazz and their negotiations with mislap and okur which i approve
Imagine if you stayed in Cleveland, Boozer Now you're stuck in Utah for a few more years. Karma is a b****.
He probably would have been shipped to Phoenix for Shaq. As for Boozer, this is just a smart move by him. How many teams are there right now with cap room to sign him for more than 12.7 mil a year? How many teams in that group are actually a contender? I'd like to think this is just karma coming back to bite him in the ass. Granted, the guy is still getting paid but this was supposed to be a BIGGER payday for him. Now he has to play out the contract, and go into the water next summer with the bigger names which could mean a smaller paycheck.
The most hilarious thing that could happen is for them to make up, Boozer exercises the option bringing the value of the contract up... and then she files for divorce
Back when it happened, some people blamed Boozer's wife for pushing him to shishkebob the Cavs and run to Utah for the money. Don't know if it's true but she does seem to have a very strong personality. Reminds me of Doug Christie's wife.
