"'It's not about age, it's about fitness," said Olajuwon. "You have to train to be fit to play...the rest is easy.' Olajuwon played in a pick-up game on Friday with a handful of his new teammates, and said the one thing lacking is the conditioning that comes with being on the court. That, he says, will come. "I feel strong, I feel comfortable," said Olajuwon. "I just need to practice and play.' " Hey, Toronto, get used to this. Will there ever be a day when Hakeem isn't working on his conditioning well into the beginning of the season? What about using the offseason to build one's conditioning, Hakeem? It's those damn summers off that's srewed him up, that's my theory at least. Same old song. God bless the Dream, though, I want him to play for ever. fromobile-
If he really is that out of shape, it will probably be about midseason before he has a breakout game that opens everybody's eyes. I can hear the Toronto fans after Hakeem has a 22 point 14 rebound game in late January..."He's back and we're going to win the East!" He's a warrior on the court when he's healthy, but I think he'll struggle with that nagging lack of conditioning.
I agree with that. Problem is he hasn't been that healthly in the last 4 years. Over 4 years he has played in about 50% of the games. In many of the games he did play he was either coming back from an injury or trying to play with one. If history is any indication, odds are that Hakeem will not play much for the Raptors. I still wish him all the best (except when he plays against us).
I believe that this belongs in the NBA Dish forum. Only Rocket infomation belongs in here. All I see is Dino crap!
