Hopefully. In this article (http://chicagosports.com/cubs/content/story/0,1984,76612,00.html), Sammy Sosa says he would love to play for Houston and in the news, he stated that he loves Enron Field! Though stupid San Francisco seems to be the front runner.
Even thought it is only speculation, this is the best news I've heard about the Astros since Unit. Here's to hoping its true... ------------------ I need a new signature. 302
Are you serious this guy's on the block? How? Why? and since when? And what do you think they would want for him? ------------------
I think they're just talking about Sosa being a free agent after the 2001 season. And if Sosa were to ever be traded (like Unit was), it would be next season, two months before Sosa's contract runs out, not this year when there is still a year left on it. The only way you would see Sosa traded is if he said he wouldn't re-sign with the Cubs, and even if he were to say that (which he hasn't I don't think) then they still wouldn't trade him until next season. Why trade him now when there is still a year left on his contract? ------------------
The Cat Why trade him now when there is still a year left on his contract? Isn't this the same situation we were in with Hampton? I know he said he wasn't interested in resigning with Houston so we were more or less forced to trade him, but we could have kept him through this season and then lost him to free agency and not gotten anything for him. Maybe Chicago is in the same boat. I seem to remember hearing rumblings of Sosa leaving due to the simple fact that the Cubs suck and he's the only good thing there. ------------------ I need a new signature. 302
astros get: sammy sosa cubs get: darryl ward chris holt ------------------ johnny "red" kerr:i'm glad the bulls did'nt draft steve francis. dan roan: why!!!!! johnny red kerr:because he would forever be compared to michael jordan.
Great. Can he pitch? ------------------ "Yes, I came from the 80s...but I didn't kill anybody. Give me a break." -Mike Tramp, former lead singer of White Lion
Wait wait. No way the Astros send Chris Holt! He's the second best pitcher in our rotation. How about: Cubs Get: Darryl Ward Tim Bogar Kip Gross Jay Powell Bill Spiers Cash $$$$ Astros Get: Sammy Sosa Eric Young (Move Biggio to SS) Todd Van Poppel Brian Williams
Freak -- Why not? Can it be any worse? But then, he wouldn't be able to bat as much. ------------------ Stay Cool...
Actually, Bogar and Spiers is reasonable for the Astros to give up. Bogar is batting what, .196?!?! Julio Lugo is a much better defensive (and sadly offensive) player than Bogar. Spiers is all right but to get Sosa, I'd do it.
LOL...I was like, damn! Sosa might come to H-Town? Then I saw the Chris Holt thing, thinking it was sarcasm...then I saw the date.
That's what happened to the sigs from the old UBB before the move to VBulletin about a year or so ago. They transferred over, but not quite as smoothly as they used to appear.
This was an unnecessarily cruel thread. And people started wondering if we were getting steroid Sammy.
Wouldn't that be "special"?! We may get a player on "the juice" playing in Minute Maid Park, aka: "The Juice"
