I know I'm going to get flamed for this, but here goes: TMAC has back issues. I know too many folks with back issues to think they will ever go away, they just don't! We need to save our franchise now by trading TMAC while he can still bring substantial value. Maybe Boston would give up Pierce and the #7. We don't have enough parts to win a championship next year, so we need to start re-loading right now. Mark my words TMAC will be limping through the next few seasons until his forced retirement. In the mean time, we will be maxed out with a player spending significant time on the injured list. Yao is the center of our franchise, but he has to be paired with another all-star and an all-star that can contribute all season long.
I for one wouldn't mind a trade considering the risk factor of Tracy's Back... What people need to understand is that Tracy is a more of a Slasher than a Spot up Jump Shooter... Attacking the basket is Tracy's money... I wouldn't trade Tracy for Pierce ( but that does look tempting ) I would try and trade Tracy for Andrei Kirilenko and Mehmet Okur .... AK47 more than makes up for the perimeter Defense that Tracy gives. Is a Premier Shot Blocker in the whole NBA... ( He's Number 1 or Number 2 in all of the NBA ) He is a slasher that won't be missed if Tracy is traded... Mehmet Okur.... He is the Powerfoward everyone is craving for... To draw the defense OUT so that Yao can post up and do fine without having to worry about the interior defense.. Mehmet Okur Has a Better FG % and 3pt % that Tracy Mcgrady ( CAn you believe that )...... One of the best big men in the league to hit outside the arc.... He's no Dirk Nowitzki but he doesnt' have to be.... Also the Field goals attempted combined from Okur and AK is almost equal to the amount of field goals attempted by Tracy.... ( and i'm not including this past season because Tracy was out for so many games.. ) What we get is basically 3 legit players to move the ball around while the defense struggles... Follow this transaction with some key bench players and we have a better shot at the title...
If we try and trade T-Mac people are gonna want to know why we don't want him anymore. A healthy T-Mac can get you Pierce or AK-47 and Okur, but if teams find out we don't want him because of his back, offers will be a lot worse.
yeah I would do that too but I think Boozer coudn't be packaged with AK because that is basically all of Utah's scoring threat... Sloan would have to be brain dead to do that deal lol... here's crossing my fingers..
not this again. he's untradable. the only way he would be tradable if he was a bad fit on this team AND healthy. since he's not a bad fit, teams will know it's because of his back and in that situation you're talking about Knicks type max players for him in exchange.
If he plays and looks healthy during pre-season and the first couple of weeks of the season, you might get someone to bite. Even if he is healthy at that point in time, I would pull the trigger, because I believe at some point next year the problem will re-occur. With a talent like TMAC someone might take a chance.
i would never even think about trading a healthy tmac. flipside- who would even want to trade for him if he wasn't healthy... he's not healthy and he wont' be 100%. i think he's done (or will be sooner than later). As a fan of the game and the rockets I HOPE HE isn't, but from just looking tmacs constant history of similar injuries i.e., back problems....not looking too good
the problem is no teams will offer the players we wanted. jazz wouldn't do Ak and okur for tmac. If boston can offer pierce and green, we might think about it. No to pierce and #7 for tmac!
Boston wouldn't do Pierce for T-Mac. You're inflating T-Mac's value. If the Rockets are offered Pierce for T-Mac they should thank the heavens that someone fell for their trick, hook, line and sinker. T-Mac is damaged goods, and if any GM gives full value for him the Rockets should jump on the opportunity.
If your franchise is built on a cornerstone (ie. Grant Hill) with chronic injury problems we can kiss any chance of being competitive for years to come. I didn't say give him away. If you can't get fairly good value then we cross our fingers and move on trying to patch a group of decent role players around our core. Unless Les decides to go Cuban on us we are going to be TMAC, Yao, draft picks and scrubs for the next 5 years. Under those circumstances, we better hit on our draft picks (how confident of that are you?). If he looks healthy starting the season, maybe, his trade value will be at an acceptable level. If we wait until the next injury, he will have no trade value.
I find it hilarious yet sad at the same time the way one bad season can completely change people's stances regarding certain players.
PP just had a career year, boston would give up nothing more than pierce. anyways, didn't t-mac say that his back is a non-issue recently?
I haven't changed my opinion of TMAC. I think he is one of the best players in the league, when healthy. I just don't think he will ever be healthy again. If we can snooker someone into paying a fairly good price we reduce our risk of being capped out while our max player watches from the whirlpool.
