I have been on this board for a little while. And for a extra note I have been a Rockets fan for about 15 years.

I have hardly ever started threads. But I thought this might be a cool idea.

First off we could trade Griffin and Boki for TJ Ford. And then shift everyone to there appropriate position. Resign Posey.

Then MAYBE get Elton Brand for our PF position.

    PG- TJ Ford
    SG- Steve Francis
    SF- Posey
    PF- Elton Brand
    C- Yao MIng

    Bench
    Mobley
    Cato
    Taylor
    T Mo
Glen Rice... for one more year
    Moochie Norris

Tell me what you think. I know there are always a lot of ifs in these trades. But I think it would be a great team. The only thing is it would take Ford probably about 3 years to become a really good player. But by that time everyone one on this team would be so good that it would great to watch.:D

Brand will be impossible to get if we re-sign Posey.

Never trade TWO bigger guys for one 5-11 point guard.
Especially since EG and Boki have so much potential.

Francis/Mobley/Posey/Brand (how do you expect to get him?)/Yao

Mobley will not play for us if he has to come off the bench. I gurantee you that. Then our bench would suck like it does this year. Aka, another promising but yet dissapointing season to many Rockets fans for next year.

I'm not sure that the University of Texas would be willing to trade Ford for Griffin and Boki.

Well folks we've officially reached a new low water mark on dumb Rocket's trades. :D

Brand is a restricted free agent, and we don't have the cap room. We could have a shot at him AFTER next year, when Rice's and someone else's contract (moochie's I think) are up. Nobody will take EG for TJ Ford, not as bad as Eddie's been playing...he's shown almost no improvement since last year and TJ will be a mid to high 1st round pick. Boki has shown nothing of worth thanks to Rudy's benching.

Edit: Sorry, Its JC, TMO, and EG whose contracts we could get rid of after next year not Moochie's... we have that slacker until 07'.

Right now, TJ Ford is barely a backup point guard in the NBA.

What the........lol...let's trade Eddie and Boki to UT for TJ Ford. I don't think they can do that yet...

TJ Ford is good. But he's still in college.

Elton Brand is good. But it is impossible to get him.

FWIW... I sat next to Tim Floyd (old ISU, Bulls coach) on a flight and asked his opinion of TJ Ford and his answer kind of surprised me. He said that he was the real deal and that if he comes out he will be the #2 pick in this years draft, he went on to say that he is an AI type talent with Kidd court vision. He seems to think that even though TJ has repeatedly said that he will return for his Junior year, he is not so sure, once the NBA scouts etc. get in his ear. Take it for what it's worth, but that is a former NBA head coach's opinion. Let the bashing begin.

tj said he is, and i quote "110% sure" that he is staying this year so dont even concern youself with him. IF he did come out im sure he would be 2 or 3. living in a-town, ive seen most ut games this year and tj is the bomb. despite his size, i think he will be an awesome nba player. like centers, true PG's are a dying breed, but tj is everything a PG should be (especially if he improves his shooting a bit).

id trade anyone short of yao or steve for him though.

I second this. TJ Ford will play at least one more year at Texas.

5'10 so-called point guard in the NBA? Nuff said.

An "insider" said TJ would leave. Who knows, hope not.

Sorry, I may be late replying to this post, but I have been thinking about T.J. Ford running the point for the Rox for a while. I go to Texas Tech so I've seen the guy play a couple of times and he's brilliant. He knows how to finish, can score at will, but instead he gets his entire team involved in his game and scores only when he has to. If there is any way that we could trade Griffin and Mobley for a solid/servicable veteran power forward and also move up high enough in the draft to select Ford, I'd do it. I think what we'd lose in offensive production (from Mobley only, really) would be more than compensated by Yao's further development, Steve's move to the 2, and Ford's ablitity to distribute.

Does anyone that really knows about other team's draft positions, Ford's projected draft spot, and the cap, etc know if we can actually get this guy? I mean, he's like 'Dre without 'Dre's drawbacks. ('Dre = Andre Miller)

Well, I'M assuming the poster means that we'd trade with the team that picks TJ - prolly somewhere around 17. That makes him a crapshoot, so his stock is packaged with some trouble the other team wants to unload. I'm not sold on it. I'd take a flyer if it didn't cost too much -- but it will.

How is this a bad trade idea. TJ Ford is a really great player as far as i can see. But you are giving a lot up for him in Griffin but you get a replacement with Brand.

The trade might not be that feasible. But I dont think it would be bad in any way for the team.
