Is it just me or was this a huge drop off from episode one? We have Buscemi emasculated, a guy knocked off (who the heck was this guy?) with no guilty pleasure ( seeing Christopher or Paulie do the deed or screw it up), a whole lot of jump cuts that made it seem like I was watching a music video.

"This guy" was Leo Mazzerone (I think his name was Leo). He was the head of the construction of the project at the Esplinade (sp?) last season. Mazzerone Construction, remember? He complained to Tony when Christopher and Patsy stole the "fiber optic cables" from the job site, and when Silvio gave the go-ahead to steal more **** behind Tony's back.

I liked how the episode was called "The Rat Pack" and it surrounded that painting as well as the three rats working with the feds.

    I actually liked the episode.

Seeing Buscemi give out massages was too funny!

And I know I wasn't the only one who thought it was Aidrianna in the car on the bridge, getting ready to jump, when suddenly we see the painting go overboard.

Oh, and drunk Tony, rearranging his wall decor was hilarious.

But what I want to know is... Where the hell is Uncle Junior???

Hate to say it but this show is nearing played out for me after a so-so third season and a bad fourth season, the long layoff and two weak episodes to begin this season I'm just not feeling it anymore.

It has moved to far away from "The Family" and Tony's therapy as a subplot into a blatant soap opera. Before the only real view points we got on Tony's family were through Tony's eyes via the therapy session. Now it's too involved with the rest of Tony's family.

Alot of the characters are starting to betray what made them popular to begin with, starting last season with Paulie becoming a real scumbag knocking off the old lady when before he was old school to begin with. Tony has gone from a tough no non-sense guy to an absolute cream puff who sits in his apartment and cries like a baby. Adrienna selling out Christopher. I mean you go back to the original season and even the second and third and the characters and writing was so much different. Each week you had basically a complete story that built on the characters character, now there are never any resolutions anymore just drug out story lines that never seem to go anywhere. It pretty much sucks now.

On a side note Deadwood which aires next week after the Sopranos looks awesome.

I kept thinking that Tony would find a bug in that picture. Oh well.

This episode was eh. No big surprises. Just filler and development for the rest of the season. One of the few that I feel you could miss watching and not miss much of the overall storyline.

I agree that the first episode was a lot better than the second episode. There were some funny parts like mentioned above, but I'll also agree with SSG that the story so far isn't so great. I'll keep on watching it though.

Even though this episode was sort of a dropoff, and it was mainly written to enhance various subplots, I still cannot get enough of the Sopranos. I will be watching religiously and taping it when I'm out on Sunday nights.

My question is....is Adrianna gonna get whacked (maybe by Christopher?) or is she going to whack herself out. I think she will be dead by the end of this season.

Paulie's gotta whack her. I think they're setting it up, with the animosity between the two (with that fake sounding apology).

"He was a great man; He practically invented point shaving"

Priceless! The 1951 CCNY scandal was real by the way.

I think this episode was just a setup for the rest of the season. Tony didn't know if killing Leo was the right thing to do or not, unlike his father who could read people. It opened up the crack of self-doubt that will eventually betray a 'boss'. Also, Buschemi's character, who shared Tony's growth experiences , who is the same guy as Tony, not wanting back in makes Tony question the validity of his chosen path. Also, it sounded a little like he may have taken the rap for a crime Tony was complicit in wich will probably play on Tony's feeling of guilt in upcoming episodes.

I think eventually Paulie will have to whack Adrianna and Christopher will find out, but I'm just guessing,

From everything I have heard (mostly from cast interviews), this season is going to take off here pretty soon. The storyline that seems most explosive to me is the impending power struggle in New York between Carmine Jr. and John. Couple that with all the old cats getting out of jail and there's gonna be a serious re-org of the whole family.

Yeah, I started laughing when I heard that. They made it seem like he was an absolute god because of that. I wonder if Christopher is going to bang that girl coming out in the wedding. I forget her name. But she is hot!

I thought it was a lot better than episode 1. I thought Buscemi's character was going to be like Richie's from Season 2 but it they took it in a totally different direction. Man, it was depressing for to see what happened to that guys family. And the show is so well written its ridiculous. Buscemi's mom talking about him not having any new suits. And he shows up to the dinner in that Miami Vice outfit. Too funny. Uncle Jr. talking about the point shaving scandal, which was real as someone said. He said he bought a cadillac. Classic. Then Adrianna turning that girl in for laundering money right after she was talking about how she's taking all the risk for her father. This show can get bogged down, but the writing is always excellent.

I think somethings gotta happen to Tony this season. He's trying to pull Buscemi back in, that is just pure evil that will be rewarded eventually.

So that's what happpens when you die on network TV. I guess HBO is heaven? (or hell, as the case may be?)

Thanks for all the feedback and information. I think Tony knew to kill that guy because the guy complimented him on losing weight, and Tony looked in the mirror for a long while, and realized, hey, I haven't lost any weight...

Yeah, I forgot to write that also when talking about the writing. He told Chris and Sylvio the guy told him he lost weight, and they looked at each other like that's a lie, and then Tony says he knew the guys was lying.
