I've seen threads about other television shows, so I will add one on my favorite current show... "The Sopranos" anyone else following Season 4? There are some fantastic plot lines developing. However, I was unimpressed with Imperioli's writing yesterday. The episode seemed more like filler meant for later in the season, rather than an early season episode. Sort of like the Pine Barrens episode in Season 3, except for the fact that it was the funniest episode in the history of the series! The scene 2 weeks ago with Meadow confronting her dad and his mafia ties... wow, that was some amazing acting... You could see the fear in Meadow's face as her dad turned into the "mob boss" right before her eyes... as for seeing ralphie take it up the rear yesterday... wow, i really didn't need that image... looks like Janice is heading down that Richie Aprile path again... I loved how her therapist told her she needed to break up with Ralphie in her "kind and sensitive way" i almost died of laughter. sure ralphie is a punk, but i felt for the guy. poor man just broke up with his gf for Janice, and was moving in with her. he brings over the last of his stuff, everything is fine and dandy, and than Janice just goes insane on him and knocks him down the stairs! i don't like this furio/carmella thing they keep hinting at... I think Furio is a little smarter than that... He knows to keep his ponytail to himself Silvio is starting to freak me out... I don't understand what he is up to, but its something. I imagine he's upset about Chrissy's bump up to capo, but still... something doesn't sit right... as for ms. "OH MY GAWWWD... CHRISTOPHAAAA", i guess she flipped? no way she'd be on the streets if she hadn't. i love the possibilities with this plot line. especially considering that david chase took the time to introduce the fbi agent's baby and husband... lots of opportunities for kidnapping/ransom/death.
the previous seasons i didnt keep up with casue i went without cable for awhile. but thanks to dvd im all caught up. ive seen all of the season 4 episodes so far and you are correct when you say there was no need for the scence with ralphie and the vibrator. silvio or paulie, one of them is getting whacked this season...
I am interested where this Ralphie thing is going. I don't think he will make it to the end of the season, same goes for Paulie. I assume he is the leak that keeps getting info to Carmine. I saw this episode as being much more than filler. It is setting up everything that will take the remaining 10 episodes to resolve. I LOVE THIS FREAKING SHOW!!!
I have been annoyed with Pualie not really playing a part in this season since he is in jail. In the past he has been one of my favorite characters. After the 1st 4 episodes I have been a little disappointed in this season. To me it just seems like nothing is really happening. The plot lines of the episodes dont seem to build on each other like the past ones did. Dont get me wrong it's still great. Also the Pine Barrens episode was one of my favorites.
Tony Sirico, the guy that plays Paulie, was diagnosed with cancer. That's why the show was delayed for so long until season 4. they had to rewrite Paulie's story line so that he would have limited exposure on camera and could rest. Thus they threw him in jail and gave him as few scenes as possible.
This is one of the best shows on TV...EVER!!!! I agree with most of the comments that have been made in this thread. I guess this means that we are the cc.net "family."
I love the Sopranos, as well as Six Feet Under. Every Sunday evening I am glued to the TV and HBO. As far as the Sopranos goes this season, I agree with the assessment that the last episode (Christopher, written by Michael Imperioli) was W-E-A-K, but you gotta have one dud in the season...hopefully this was the only one. The two things I'm most intrigued by are... --what will happen in regards to Chrissy's fiance getting busted by the FBI. What ramifications will this have on the family? --Chrissy is heading straight towards a heroin overdose. I wonder when it will happen. "I'm just chippin'". Yeah right...famous last words.
I was sure that the phone call that Carmela got was news about Adrianna's suicide. I think it's Paulie that gets whacked. Silvio sees that a power struggle is emerging, and he's just trying to play both sides. It is a great show.
by the way, does anyone know who on earth this old man that is helping Junior is? in the first episode of the season, junior is asleep on the couch watching TV and the old man gets up to leave, Junior wakes up and says "where are you going?"... phone rings, Junior says "answer that!" and thats when he finds out that the doctor's office isn't safe to talk anymore... where did this man come from? i don't remember him!
I thought the phone call that Carmella got was the news about Karen's car accident. I think you're right that if anybody gets whacked it's Paulie...but if Ralphie continues down the road with Janice...he'll get it too.
the call was about Karen. i think he was stating what he thought the phone call was about before it was revealed on the show... i was thinking about Baccalla... now that he has no wife, could he flip if the feds put some pressure on him? if he goes to prison, his kids will have no parents, so he has to stay out. maybe Tony will notice this possiblity and have Baccalla taken care of (if ya know what i mean). just something i considered this morning while rewatching the episode.
Sopranos, Curb your enthusiasm, 6 feet under, Sex and the City. It's not tv, it's hbo. Love hbo and I love their original shows.
I haven't missed an episode since Day 1. This is one of my Top 5 tv shows on TV. I am enjoying the plot lines being setup. I miss Paulie, but he is turning into a rat. Needs to straighten up or he will get silenced. Ralphie is gonna get whacked (possibly by Johnny Sack), but I could see Ralph trying to make a move on Tony and getting burned for that. Adrianna is dead also, barring a miracle. I don't know what is going on with Silvio, he needs to get his **** together. I like Bobby now, he will only get stronger with his wife gone.
I'm gonna go on record and say that Adrianna and Ralphie don't get whacked. Adrianna will come to her senses and Ralphie's like a cockroach...I'm surprised he's made it this long. I say either Paulie, Silvio, or both get whacked. BTW, next week's episode looks like it'll be amazing. Someone punching Tony? Has that happened all series?
i've never actually watched the sopranos on tv but i have all three dvd sets. i don't even have HBO now so i'm completely missing this season. maybe they're up on the net by now though? anyways i thought ralphie would get knocked off for sure before the end of last season(after beating that stripper) so if he continues to f**k around i'm guessing he'll get it. i hope paulie lives, he gives some classic facial expressions, but not if he's a rat. the pine barrens' episode is definitely the series' funniest, but not the best.
