5 Reasons Why the Sony Mylo is Doomed to Failure

Bottom line: An old associate of mine, Preston Grallla said it best: “So let’s sum this up. It’s a device for people who are devoted to instant messaging, but won’t work with biggest IM networks in the world. It costs as much or more than handheld gaming devices, but won’t let you play games. And the Skype capabilities are nice, but the target audience already has cellphones.”

To be serious for a moment -- what is the purpose of this thing? It just seems like it duplicates several other products on the market already. Plus it's very expensive.

I just don't get it at all.

Would anyone here consider buying it?

I saw a video on this for Youtube and the guy was like "The greatest thing about the Mylo is that you can share other songs of yours with other Mylo's."

Wow! A new era of music sharing! :D

I haven't been paying much attention to this since it isn't really gaming-related (my interest in the Zune plummeted when I found out it didn't really play games). From what I could tell, this is pretty dumb for a product. I think I saw someone say it was a PSP that doesn't play games, and a cell phone that doesn't use the cell phone networks. Yeah, that will work. Especially at $350.

If it was cheaper (cheaper than my PSP, which can do some/most of that @ $200, and that's overpriced), and I was around a LOT of hotspots...I might consider it....no, probably not since I'm not really big on messaging people.

Yep, this will be another big failure for Sony and their electronics division I imagine (and just when that division started bringing in a profit too).

How exactly do you text on it? Is they're a flip out QWERTY keypad or something?

And the market Sony is targeting for this product already has a Sidekick. So what's the point.

See....I would be tempted to buy that IF it had phone capabilities. No phone, no games = no point.

Well, it kinda looks like a pair of t*tties, so maybe Sony is going for the subconscious perv market...

If it had AIM, a megapixel camera/video, and cell phone capabilities, I'd be all over it.

    Too bad it doesn't. :(

Do not underestimate this device. I have been sent from the future as a representative of the human resistance force to warn you that tech gadgets - led by the Mylo - will one day rise up, enslave humanity and take over the world. We must fight back now

Speak for yourself. I, for one, welcome our new Mylo overlords.
