http://www.nba.com/sonics/ Totally flash driven. Rockets are you listening? http://blog.seattlepi.nwsource.com/venture/archives/132921.asp?source=rss They may be heading out of town. And they may have one of the worst records in the NBA. But at least the Seattle Supersonics have a cool, new Web site. Today, the Sonics are introducing a new Flash-based Web site -- developed in part by Cypress Consulting of Seattle -- that features high resolution photos and video highlights of the team, the Sonics dancers and, of course, Squatch. Developed over the past nine months for more than $100,000, Supersonics.com offers a streamlined design that contrasts with text-heavy format of the old Web site. Gone are the heavy ticket promotions, box scores and news headlines, replaced by visually stimulating images of Kevin Durant and Nick Collison. "It is a much more immersive and high fidelity experience," said Cypress founder Nate Thompson, whose firm has created Web sites for the Seattle Seahawks, New Orleans Saints and University of Southern California Trojans. (He declined to say which site is his favorite.) By incorporating wide screen images and recent video highlights, Thompson said the goal is to create the feeling of being courtside. The team also is encouraging bloggers and other Web site operators to embed the new Sonics media player on independent sites. Despite the challenges on and off the court, Sonics officials are proud of the new site which was created in part by Sonics Web developer Nathan Affolter. About 2,000 development hours went into the project. (Updated) Brian Byrnes, senior vice president of sales and marketing, said they are ecstatic about the new features. "We think it is a whole new paradigm in how sports teams present their brands," said Byrnes, adding that many teams use a "cookie cutter" approach when it comes to Web site designs. Because the home page now has a single page view with no scrolling, Byrnes said it is far easier to navigate. Of course, a new Web site won't solve major problems, like last night's 42-point blowout at the hands of the Denver Nuggets. Byrnes admitted that the team faces challenges, but he said the Web site is "another example of how we continue to invest in the business."
lol easier to change to OKC. i dont like it TBH... it's illogical to make you click the buttons at top then the sub-menus show up at the bottom then it moves them up. i also think flash websites are some of the most overrated pieces of garbage. obviously it's new because there are a ton of dead links.
Hmmm it's just an all Flash site. It looks cool but try to copy & paste something out it... HTML sites are fine. The Rocket's site is just too busy imo.
It's way too slow and bulky to use. Looks nice the first time you use it, and then goes down from there. There is a reason why you don't see permanent sites all built in flash....
I like it, I absolutely hate the Rockets site right now. I mean, when I go to Rockets.com it should take me to their site! Not some advertisement!
