Does the game against the Sonics tell us much about this coming season Rockets, or is it just another preseason game which is not worth a mention????

Even with the overwhelming defeat, Seattle coach P.J. Carlesimo said his team put forth a solid effort. He said the Sonics have been victims of playing talented teams from a loaded Western Conference.

“It’s not easy when you’re working hard and you don’t seem to be getting rewarded for it,” Carlesimo said. “I mean there are a lot of disappointed guys that are saying, ‘Hey, I’m trying and we’re not getting it done.’ So we just have to continue to work and we obviously have to play better.”

I don't think any preseason game really matter much to start with other than just seeing how your favorite player is doing in terms of shape and stuff.

But that quote is just an excuse. It's more like they've been a victim of SUCKING SO BAD. They haven't done anything since the Kemp/Payton days with the exception of that one lucky year when they made the playoffs like 3-4 years ago.

Sonics are done in the season. Damn they had Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis and now - they have only Durant left. I'm not sayin' Kevin is weak but he ain't able to carry this team this season. He'll be good, very good but I think in 2-3 years. Delonte West has to step up, the Same with Wilcox. You have also Ridnour. But overally Seattle's situation is hopeless

We beat them good, but Seattle isn't that type of team that is going to run the W conference. They are just reborn,so I don't expect anything this year from them.
In the best, best, best ,best way to enter the playoffs which is likely not going to happen.

They're in rebuild mode. They have two very promising prospects in Kevin Durant and Jeff Green (spelling?). PJ Carlesimo is a great coach who, although confrontational, can get the best out of his players. They have some assets they can move around and hopefully surround Durant and Green with a better supporting cast. I wouldn't say their situation is hopeless at all, except in terms of wins this year. :p

Kevin Durant is a future leader of Sonics who has huge potential to develop. Form this preseason game, it seems Sonics are more confident with him.

This season will be good experience for Durant. They should be happy that they're playing so many top tier teams this early on.

Agree with everything except the part about P.J. Carlesimo being a great coach.

Yeah, just because Worrell and Bullard say he's a great coach, doesn't make it true.

Great coaches are someone that have exhibited knowing basketball and being able to lead. PJ Carelismo obviously knows basketball, but he hasn't proved that he can lead a team on his own to a pinnacle, not as an assistant in the NBA.

His coaching days at Portland look like Tracy Mcgrady's playoff record. All exits in the first round. And lets not even talk about his Golden State days . . .or Sprewell might choke you.

The point is they are playing their actual rotation for the regular season and still getting owned by the other team's scrubs. I don't see why they let Lewis go or even Allen as a matter of fact. They could have just built on top of their team, and be decent or even a contender.

Yeah - because clearly that was the coaches fault

might be a crappy coach, but you still can't choke someone....

I think Seattle has one heck of a developing team. Give them some time, and they'll be among the West leaders within 3 to 5 years.

    Ridnour/Watson
    Durant/Szczerbiak/D.West
    Green/Wilkins/Gelebale
    Wilcox/Collison
    Thomas/Swift/Petro/Sene

But, I agree, they'll suck 90% of this year, although I expect them to start improving toward the end of the year as the rookies build confidence and the team learns how to play together.

I think that the trio of West/Durant/Green will be pretty amazing for years to come. If they just got a good center, they'd be lethal.

i disagree they needed to start over.

those are two good players but they were not good enough for they money they wanted.
