I don't know why, but I like alot of music that is considered feminine or gay. I just do. I guess that's why I hate it when my friends check out my cds. I always say"oh, that's my sisters." LOL. Anyways, one that I like is "We've only just begun" by the Carpenters. Anyone else want to shame themselves on a public forum?
I love Prince (not too embarassing) but I used to have all the records from his spin-off bands too -- The Time, Vanity 6, Jill Jones, Apollonia 6, The Family, etc... I still think The Time is pretty cool, but I have gotten rid of most of the others. I also love Mel Torme, Peggy Lee, Julie London and others of the 50s lounge/swing genre. Not that I'm ashamed of that but not too many other people my age are into that.
In the movie "Oh Brother where art though" I love the main song. "A man of constant sorrow" Also the sirens song is great too... A great movie. DaDakota
I still like Milli Vanilli. My favorite is "It's a tragedy for me to see, the dream is over..." I like a lot of corny stuff, but I'll never apologize for it. Never! Sorry
Aw, man, there are many CDs that would fit the bill here. The most embarrassing that I have include: Backstreet Boys - Backstreet Boys Milennium - Backstreet Boys N Sync - N Sync No Strings Attached - N Sync Britney Spears 1st CD (I can't remember the name of it) Oops I Did It Again - Britney Spears Christina Aguilera's 1st CD Mandy Moore 1st TWO CDs Jessica Simpson's 1st CD, Sweet Kisses Yea, I guess it was obvious that I liked bubblegum pop at one time in my life. *hangs head in shame*
DaDakota, Man, if you're embarassed by that song, then I must be hiding in a cave with the CD soundtrack of the movie in a hidden stash. Heck, I've made two copies of the CD just so it's everywhere I am. Although my preference these days are the old torch songs, this soundtrack has had my attention for awhile. I remember my dad singing "Big Rock Candy Mountain" when I was a wee child. Can you imagine my reaction when I first saw the movie? -I agree, Great movie. Anyway, what song am I embarassed or ashamed of liking? (long pause...went downstairs to peruse my collection) Nothing there. (another pause...searching memory banks) Tough call. Oh, I got one. There's a Barbara Streisand song in the beginning of the movie Defending Your Life. I like the movie a lot so when my brother and I were driving down the road and that song some how came across the radio...I said, cool, I like that song...it's on one of my tapes. He gave me one long strange look and said, man, you're not suppose to like her... I blushed when I realized what he was saying... Oh well. RR
DD...don't ever be ashamed to like classic American music. The song that I am most ashamed to like is "Brandy" by Looking Glass, a #1 hit in 1972. "And the sailor said Brandy, you're a fine girl, what a good wife you would be...But my life, my love and my lady is the sea"
