The other day I found myself constantly singing this lyric:

"Well, Andy did you hear about this one?
Andy are you locked in the punch?
Andy are you goofing on Elvis...hey baby
    Are you having fun?"

Those may not be the exact lyrics but they are close. I'm sure most everyone here recognized that as "Man on the Moon" by REM.

Now, I have graduated onto something else. "Self Control" by Laura Branigan has entered my head around lunch time and has set up permanent shop there. I MUST get the greatest hits album by her sometime today. There is no other alternative!

What song or songs do you have in your head that you can't seem to shake?

Right now I have a Beethoven sonata, but I usually have really obvious songs like
Christmas carols -- it seems like I sing those things year-round. I also tend to have a lot of pop standards ("Satin Doll," "S'Wonderful") that get lodged in my brain.

The worst though, is the almost constant refrain of the Carpenters' "Close to You." I think it's punishment since I used to make up stupid words to it and sing it to my cats. Now I can't stop hearing it.

You know that kids song that goes "I like to eat, eat, eat eeples and baneenees. I like to oat, oat, oat oapples and banoanoas" ?It goes on like that with all the vowels of the alphabet. I get that song stuck in my head all the freaking time.

Nelly - "it's getting hot in here"

I don't even like the song, and it's partly my own fault that it has gotten so lodged in there, but those commercials from the new Chris Rock movie aren't helping.

My mind is an empty recpetical for songs, sadly...As my friends, co-workers, and students will attest, I am invariably singing a song to myself in those rare moments where I am not pontificating about something or other...and it can and will be any song, usually the last one I've heard, but often a song I haven't heard for months of years...My taste in musuc seems, sadly, to have absolutely no effect on the type of song which I will absent-mindedly sing while walking down the street, cooking, or whatever...It can lead to akward moments, like belting out the refrain of Aniie Lennox's " I Need A Man!" in public, or such like...but is far more aggrevating when it is simply the fact that my internal juke box is stuck on a song I hate...

Common enough to mention, though, are the opening guitar lick to Bloodsugarsexmagic, by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Let's Get It On, by Marvin Gaye, etc..otherwise it's usually temporary...

    "Total Eclipse of the Heart"

Why? Because that punk FatFattyBastard had to go and post lyrics to it in another thread. I read those before I went out running and that damn song was STUCK in my head the entire time! It's now 2.5 hours later and I can't stop hearing "TURN AROUND, BRIGHT EYEs..."

If I ever meet FFB, I'm gonna punch him in the face! :)

There are a couple of random Sesame Street songs that I remember from when I was a kid that haunt me regularly.

One is some kind of number song:

One Two Three FOUR Five...Six Seven Eight NINE Ten...ELEVEN TWELVE!!!!

The other one is completely random:

    B - U - S - S - T - O - P....Whaaaoooohhh!!...Bus stop sign!

Oh, no! I just rememered the worst one that keeps creeping back in and will follow me around until my dying day. I'll warn you right now. DO NOT scroll down if you don't want to see what it is:

    OOM-PAH, LUUMP-PAH, DOOMP-PAH-DI-DOO....I'VE GOT AN-OTH-ER PUZZLE FOR YOU.....

AAHHHHH!!!!!!!!! WHY DID I READ THIS THREAD??!!!! WHY?????????!!!!!!!!!!

    50 Cent - "Wanksta"

I just heard it on the radio, and the part where he's says, "Daaaaam Homey!" is lodged and running on continuous loop in my noggin.

I close my eyes and see you before me
Think I would die if you were to ingore me
A fool could see just how much I adore you
I'd get down on my knees I'd do anything for you
    I don't want anybody else
When I think about you I touch myself...

But it sure as heck beats...........

    LLANO ESTACADO!!!!
