Sometimes you never know who you’re going to meet on a basket ball court. I’m down in Galveston and as usual I’m playing basket ball on the west end of the island. I see the same old man pretty much every day walking his dog around the track and I always wave and or say hi. Well today he walks over to me (I was just shooting around) and asks me if I’m in a recreational league because I have a pretty good shot…considering it’s windy as hell. I tell him no…that I’ve just finished up my and I’m getting married on the 31st so I really don’t have time. He goes on to ask about basket ball in the Galveston area and why it’s so poor…It’s more of an area for football I tell him. We go on to talk about the UCLA vs. ATM game…I did my undergrad as UCLA so I was happy they had won. I start to tell me how he knows John Wooden…blah blah blah; and how he did some coaching in college…I ask, where did you coach? He asks sarcastically “ever heard of Duke?” I’m sitting here talking to Bill Foster! A college coaching legend! He goes on to tell me how he ended up retiring in Galveston, and so on. Just a random day…that ended with a pretty cool “howdy neighbor.”
I hate to hi-jack my own thread but……………….I’m getting married in 22 days. I’ve been so busy finishing up school and working that it just set in, haha. I remember a few months ago I think I posted that I was going to Europe on my honeymoon. We’ll be leaving on Jan. 2nd for 3 weeks…I can’t wait!
Congratulations! BTW, I've never heard of Bill Foster but I'm sure he was kickass. Edit: Just looked him up in Wikipedia. Damn. He has some good credentials
I wikipediaed him too...I was tripping out! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Foster_(college_basketball_coach)
