I used to think that this scenario was nothing more than paranoia. But now I'm not so sure.

Old-line Republican warns 'something's in the works' to trigger a police state Muriel Kane

    Published: Thursday July 19, 2007

Thom Hartmann began his program on Thursday by reading from a new Executive Order which allows the government to seize the assets of anyone who interferes with its Iraq policies.

He then introduced old-line conservative Paul Craig Roberts -- a former Assistant Secretary of the Treasury under Reagan who has recently become known for his strong opposition to the Bush administration and the Iraq War -- by quoting the "strong words" which open Roberts' latest column: "Unless Congress immediately impeaches Bush and Cheney, a year from now the US could be a dictatorial police state at war with Iran."

"I don't actually think they're very strong," said Roberts of his words. "I get a lot of flak that they're understated and the situation is worse than I say. ... When Bush exercises this authority [under the new Executive Order] ... there's no check to it. It doesn't have to be ratified by Congress. The people who bear the brunt of these dictatorial police state actions have no recourse to the judiciary. So it really is a form of total, absolute, one-man rule. ... The American people don't really understand the danger that they face."

Roberts said that because of Bush's unpopularity, the Republicans face a total wipeout in 2008, and this may be why "the Democrats have not brought a halt to Bush's follies or the war, because they expect his unpopular policies to provide them with a landslide victory in next year's election."

However, Roberts emphasized, "the problem with this reasoning is that it assumes that Cheney and Rove and the Republicans are ignorant of these facts, or it assumes that they are content for the Republican Party to be destroyed after Bush has his fling." Roberts believes instead that Cheney and Rove intend to use a renewal of the War on Terror to rally the American people around the Republican Party. "Something's in the works," he said, adding that the Executive Orders need to create a police state are already in place.

"The administration figures themselves and prominent Republican propagandists ... are preparing us for another 9/11 event or series of events," Roberts continued. "Chertoff has predicted them. ... The National Intelligence Estimate is saying that al Qaeda has regrouped. ... You have to count on the fact that if al Qaeda's not going to do it, it's going to be orchestrated. ... The Republicans are praying for another 9/11."

Hartmann asked what we as the people can do if impeachment isn't about to happen. "If enough people were suspicious and alert, it would be harder for the administration to get away with it," Roberts replied. However, he added, "I don't think these wake-up calls are likely to be effective," pointing out the dominance of the mainstream media.

"Americans think their danger is terrorists," said Roberts. "They don't understand the terrorists cannot take away habeas corpus, the Bill of Rights, the Constitution. ... The terrorists are not anything like the threat that we face to the Bill of Rights and the Constitution from our own government in the name of fighting terrorism. Americans just aren't able to perceive that."

Roberts pointed out that it's old-line Republicans like himself, former Reagan associate deputy attorney general Bruce Fein, and Pat Buchanan who are the diehards in warning of the danger. "It's so obvious to people like us who have long been associated in the corridors of power," he said. "There's no belief in the people or anything like that. They have agendas. The people are in the way. The Constitution is in the way. ... Americans need to comprehend and look at how ruthless Cheney is. ... A person like that would do anything."

Roberts final suggestion was that, in the absence of a massive popular outcry, "the only constraints on what's going to happen will come from the federal bureaucracy and perhaps the military. They may have had enough. They may not go along with it."

    paranoia strikes deep
into your life it will creep
it starts when you're always afraid
step outta line and the man come and take you away.

I'm not giving in an inch to fear!
Cause I missed myself this year
I feel like I owe it to someone

If I am pushing for a police state I love the liberals.

The Fairness Doctrine, a New World Order goverment has to love that. A goverment official of a police state monitoring whats on the air in the name of the fairness doctrine, you can forget about vocies of opposition like Hannity or even your guy Olberman in a NWO state with the fairness doctrine
    law being passed.

Next the liberals in congress say "We Americans can't be anonymous when reporting suspicious persons to the goverment and can be sued for racial profiling." This coming at a time when we hear reports that AL-Queada is re-generating and prepping for attacks on our soil this summer. So if I'm for this police state/NWO whatever you want to call it, I say hats off to the liberals in congress for passing this law, because we want a terrorist attack to happen, a major one, we don't want Americans tipping the local police off, and no better way to deter Americans from doing that than with a threat of a possible lawsuit. Thank you gullible liberals.

You can see it all coming together thanks to the liberals, they are passing laws left and right that a possible coming police state will thrive with.

    Take the children and yourself
And hide out in the cellar
By now the fighting will be close at hand
Don't believe the church and state
    And everything they tell you
Believe in me, I'm with the high command

Can you hear me, can you hear me running?
Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you?
Can you hear me, can you hear me running?
Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you?

    There's a gun and ammunition
    Just inside the doorway
    Use it only in emergency
Better you should pray to God
    The Father and the Spirit
Will guide you and protect from up here

Can you hear me, can you hear me running?
Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you?
Can you hear me, can you hear me running?
Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you?

    Swear allegiance to the flag
    Whatever flag they offer
Never hint at what you really feel
    Teach the children quietly
For some day sons and daughters
Will rise up and fight while we stood still

Can you hear me, can you hear me running?
Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you?
Can you hear me, can you hear me running?
Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you?

    You got a lotta nerve
To say you are my friend
    When I was down
    You just stood there grinning

    You got a lotta nerve
To say you got a helping hand to lend
You just want to be on
    The side that's winning

You say I let you down
You know it's not like that
    If you're so hurt
Why then don't you show it

You say you lost your faith
But that's not where it's at
You had no faith to lose
    And you know it

    I know the reason
That you talk behind my back
I used to be among the crowd
    You're in with

Do you take me for such a fool
    To think I'd make contact
With the one who tries to hide
What he don't know to begin with

You see me on the street
    You always act surprised
You say, "How are you?" "Good luck"
    But you don't mean it

When you know as well as me
    You'd rather see me paralyzed
Why don't you just come out once
    And scream it

No, I do not feel that good
When I see the heartbreaks you embrace
If I was a master thief
    Perhaps I'd rob them

And now I know you're dissatisfied
With your position and your place
    Don't you understand
    It's not my problem

I wish that for just one time
You could stand inside my shoes
And just for that one moment
    I could be you

Yes, I wish that for just one time
You could stand inside my shoes
You'd know what a drag it is
    To see you

    I have often walked
    down this street before,
    but the pavement never stayed
    beneath my feet before.....

Living is easy with eyes closed, misunderstanding all you see.
It's getting hard to be someone but it all works out.
It doesn't matter much to me.

In the middle of the earth in the land of the Shire
lives a brave little hobbit whom we all admire.
    With his long wooden pipe,
    fuzzy, woolly toes,
he lives in a hobbit-hole and everybody knows him

    Bilbo! Bilbo! Bilbo Baggins
    He's only three feet tall
    Bilbo! Bilbo! Bilbo Baggins
The bravest little hobbit of them all

Now hobbits are a peace-lovin' folks you know
They don't like to hurry and they take things slow
They don't like to travel away from home
They just want to eat and be left alone
But one day Bilbo was asked to go
on a big adventure to the caves below,
to help some dwarves get back their gold
that was stolen by a dragon in the days of old.

    Bilbo! Bilbo! Bilbo Baggins
    He's only three feet tall
    Bilbo! Bilbo! Bilbo Baggins
The bravest little hobbit of them all

Well he fought with the goblins!
    He battled a troll!!
    He riddled with Gollum!!!
    A magic ring he stole!!!!
    He was chased by wolves!!!!!
    Lost in the forest!!!!!!
Escaped in a barrel from the elf-king's halls!!!!!!!

    Bilbo! Bilbo! Bilbo Baggins
The bravest little hobbit of them all

Now he's back in his hole in the land of the Shire,
that brave little hobbit whom we all admire,
just a-sittin' on a treasure of silver and gold
a-puffin' on his pipe in his hobbit-hole.

    Bilbo! Bilbo! Bilbo Baggins
    He's only three feet tall
    Bilbo! Bilbo! Bilbo Baggins
The bravest little hobbit of them all

Thank you, Leonard Nimoy, for putting into words what we are all truly thinking.

White riot - I wanna riot
White riot - a riot of my own
White riot - I wanna riot
White riot - a riot of my own

Black people gotta lot a problems
But they dont mind throwing a brick
    White people go to school
Where they teach you how to be thick

    An everybodys doing
    Just what theyre told to
    An nobody wants
    To go to jail!

All the powers in the hands
Of people rich enough to buy it
    While we walk the street
Too chicken to even try it

    Everybodys doing
    Just what theyre told to
    Nobody wants
    To go to jail!

    Are you taking over
    Or are you taking orders?
    Are you going backwards
    Or are you going forwards?

You think you're alone until you realize you're in it.
Now fear is here to stay. Love is here for a visit.
They call it instant justice when it's past the legal limit.
Someone's scratching at the window. I wonder who is it?

Talk about your ultimate pop oxymoron. A police state run by Sting, but then again he did write Every Breath You Take.

This is just ridiculous. Even if Bush was stupid enough to try it (wait....that's certainly plausible though)...but anyway, I may have 0 faith in Bush / Cheney, but I do have faith in a few other things still.

Most Republicans would stand against this action. The military forces wouldn't back it either. And the people would rise up in droves.

Democracy runs too deep in this country's blood to be subverted by the idiots in office.
