There was a pretty long stretch in the game vs the Jazz when the Rockets had this line-up on the court:

    Aaron Brooks
    Carl Landry
    Luis Scola
    Steve Novak
    T-Mac

3 Rookies, 1 Sophomore and T-Mac... Or considering that Novak didn't see the court last year, you could pretty much call it 4 rookies + T-Mac

It was a pretty decent stretch and they actually stayed in the game with this line-up.

This team has some players, and I am happy to see RA experiment with the line up a bit.

The Jazz scored on 13 straight possessions in the 4th quarter.

I have to agree that JVG's head would have exploded if a team scored on their last 13 possessions. that was pretty tough to watch.

you know what i am not sure , that is good sign, or bad

will RA use these 3 rookies more enough if we make the playoff?

    scola of course , yes

brook maybe, to compare top west PG, we need that

landry... i don't believe he will , unless heyes is traded base on the ability of heyes's defense and ability cover for yao and most importantly , take the fouls for yao.

still give credit to RA, BUT WE ARE NOT REBUILDING TEAM!

They played pretty well offensively, but struggled to get stops. I think the Jazz outscored us by a couple points with that lineup on the court in the 4th. We actually made our big run at the end of the third with Rafer, T-Mac, Luis, Shane, and Novak.

Yeah, that is another thing you wouldn't see if JVG were still here.

I think we have the players, our rotation is the issue.

T-Mac with the 2nd team seems to really help us gain some momentum, but Yao needs more help with the starters by switching Landry with Hayes.

You are damn right Steve Novak wouldn't be on the floor for JVG. And rightfully so. He would also have been getting production out of Mike James and Dikembe Mutombo last night. If Steve Francis was healthy he too would most likely be in the rotation, obviously I am sketchy on his "tendinitis". Also Chuck Hayes defends Boozer extremely well, he would have matched Boozer minute for minute.

I think Adelman got too ambitious when he tried Novak in the 4th with the Jazz.
Adelman should have tried Novak in some games but not with Jazz and in the 4th. This is because Novak hardly played sufficiently to get into his system yet
especially against the JAZZ unlike Landry and Scola who has been getting consistent PT. I would not mind playing Scola and Landry in the 4th against strong opponents as they have been playing for significant minutes for many games. Novak can be tested against strong opponents if he has similar exposure
and experience via PT like Scola or Landry.

Actually Adelman did that in the first three quarters until chuck picked up his fourth foul (which he got recovering the middle on Deron Williams to help the defensive rotation of the guards). But then Adelman didn't go back to him after that. Scola covered Boozer fairly well, he only got a couple of shots off around/over him.

But I agree, JVG probably would have left Chuck in there when Boozer was in until he fouled out in the 4th.

We also would never see the team give up 30+ points in the 4th Q in two straight games.

If JVG was running the team, the Jazz would have blown the Rockets out in the 3rd quarter because once the team went down by 10 points he wouldn't have had the stones to insert Novak, who brought us all the way back by scoring 10 points and forcing Utah to honor the outside shot.

Novak stinks on D, but there is a place for the guy, Matt Bullard never played much D either....

    SHEESH.

You might want to check the box scores, I think you would be surprised.

34 points in the 4th quarter against New Orleans last year

    followed by:

38 points allowed in the 4th quarter against Phoenix

And numerous other times the team gave up 30+ points in the 4th quarter last year....

This is not a coaching problem it is the players problem....

Lots of other times during the year they would give up 30+ points and then like 29 the next game..

Let's judge Adelman in the playoffs. Not now.

And yes, I have faith that we will be in the playoffs.

half of the season is over. granted we've had injuries galore, but shouldn't drastic line up experimentations come to somewhat of a halt by now?

That's one JVG myth busted. Gosh the defensive King isn't wearing any clothes. King is dethroned! Life is back to normal. :)

Something you would never see if JVG was still here...

Yao or Hayes distributing from the high post

Aaron Brooks getting 28 min @ Por

    Steve Novak in uniform

T-Mac getting away with his "the docs cleared me to play, but I'm not mentally ready so I'm going to sit out a few more games"

Luis Scola with a shred of confidence

Mike James or Francis getting any PT after exposing themselves as selfish anti-team players during the first few weeks.

The team as a whole getting away with their pitiful play Nov 13 - Nov 23. Everyone would be sporting black eyes and a busted nose.

There are good and bad things with the regime change. Doubtful that we'd have 3 rookies playing with such promise, but also doubtful that the team would be underachieving and as lackluster as we've seen.

Novak now = Bullard his last couple of years. By that time, Bullard was limited to trying to get fouled at the end of the game and desperation inbounds passes.

    That is just not true....

Defense can be taught, but apparently shot making is very hard to learn.

Novak has a special skill, if he stinks on D....work with him and help him, becasue this team NEEDS shot makers...in the worst way.

    This kills me. Seriously.

I already think the NBA season is too long considering the fact more teams make the playoffs than don't. But essentially what we're talking about is disregarding performance over an 82 game season to see how we do over a 7 game series...assuming we do well enough in the 82 game season to get us there.

Look, we wanted improvement. If we go in as an 8th seed to face a 1, I'm not gonna see that as improvement. Obviously if we win in the first round, I'd be giddy...but I have a hard time imagining that happening right now.

I think you absolutely have to consider the failures of this team in the regular season when judging Adelman.

I'm beyond frustrated with this franchise.
