Sinafasi Makelo, a representative of Mbuti pygmies, told the UN's Indigenous People's Forum that during the four-year civil war his people had been hunted down and eaten. "In living memory, we have seen cruelty, massacres, and genocide, but we have never seen human beings hunted down as though they were game animals," he said. "Pygmies are being pursued in the forests. People have been eaten. This is nothing more, nothing less, than a crime against humanity."
That's strange I just double checked it, and it worked for me. Any computer wizards know what I need to do to make the link work for others?
Thousands of other people die everyday. Some people dont want to sit down and cry everytime they hear about someone dying. Whos being the real jerk here?
Well I can think of a couple of options, but I'm not one of them. I wasn't saying that people should shed tears. I just said that it isn't funny to make jokes about eating people who are being hunted and eaten like animals. Do you think making jokes about the victims of 9/11 would be funny? After all people die everyday and we don't want to cry everytime.
Um no, because its something I can identify with. I think the thought of cannibalism is so beyond anyones mind here that its impossible to relate the same emotions as something that happened to friends and family members. Chill
It's cool, and I honestly didn't want people to ruin their day or anything, it was just that anytime a group of people is being hunted and exterminated, especially in such a cruel way, some jokes aren't appropriate, at least until time passes. I believe there is a quote that says 'comedy is tragedy plus time'. It just hasn't been a long enough time yet. I didnt' really think you would be ok with laughing at 9/11 victims, either. It was just to illustrate that a victim is a victim, whether he is a pygmy in Africa or casualty of terrorism.
I'm not Jewish, and I'm not from Europe, and I've never been in a concentration camp being starved to death, and it was 60 years ago, and I don't think I'll being making fun of the holocaust anytime soon. Making fun of something because you can't relate to it is the epitome of ignorance.
