With all the talk surrounding Yao and Francis, I think we are forgetting what should be the Rockets' number-one off-season priority. That is, of course, re-signing Walt Williams.

When is this going to happen? Surely the Rockets realize just how valuable veteran shooters can be, since they won a couple of titles thanks to role players like Walt.

When are we going to find out about Walt's status? If this guy isn't brought back, then it will surely be a sign that Rudy is tanking yet again, this time so he can pick up Lebron James.

The Rockets need to get their act together, and lock up Walt for the next 6-7 years.

Is this a joke post? Are you trying to be sarcastic? We have Glen Rice, Boki, T mo, and the Wiz fighting for play time at SF? The buzz has been out for a while now that Walt is out already. So I'm not sure what you are trying to accomplish with this post.

ZRB:- Sorry but Walt Williams is an example of what was wrong with last years games. VERY POOR DEFENCE. If we are going to improve we dont need a person who laughs every time he makes a mistake or fouls. We now have enough 3 point guys, there is no place in this young team for Williams.

Okay, it's partially a joke, but I really would like to see Walt brought back for minumum salary.

Look, we all know that the Rockets are going to be ravaged by injuries again. It can't hurt to have depth.

My philosophy is you can't have enough good, veteran shooters. I'd like to see Bullard brought back too. He could play valuable minutes backing up Mobley at the two.

Other than Mobley, Rudy has no one else to play the two, 'cept Bull. :D

I agree that the Rockets need depth, but at all positions. Remember there is only room for 12 on the roster and if you stockpile at SF, well that leaves vulnerabilities at the other positions. Besides, having Rice, Boki, and T Mo on deck isn't too shabby.

    Making the team are:

    Francis
    Mobes
    Rice
    Boki
    Taylor
    Thomas
    Griffin
    Ming
    Cato
    Collier
    Moochie

Thats 11 players there. 1 more makes the team, take your pick,
Brown, TMo, Torres, Maddox, and Williams.

Williams is the last thing we need.

rezdawg, I believe T Mo is under contract so he's on the roster for sure. Collier may be the odd man out since his is up. More likely, Tierre or Tito will have a better chance of being picked up since they will want to have 3 players at PG.

    Understand this...

...Walt Williams is not a Rocket now and won't be a Rocket this season.

Also, I believe Collier is under contract for 1 more season with the Rockets holding the option for the following year.

    As you were.

We can sign WW to a 10 day contract when Rice gets injured a few games into the season.
