Why the hell are we as men always b****ed at and told to put the toilet seat down? I understand the ladies don't like having to put it down every time, but all that does is put the entire toilet seat moving responsibility on us. Why is it that men are the ones that have to be inconvenienced by the damn toilet lid? It pisses me off when a woman leaves the seat down because I have to pick it up. What's the difference between a man encountering a "down" seat on the way to urinate and a woman encountering an "up" seat? I just want all the men out there to rally behind me in my effort to always b**** about chicks leaving the damn thing down.

Oh, and another thing; why do all the girls I know expect that if they flirt with a guy in a club or a bar, that they somehow have earned a drink? I go to the clubs with female friends and I have to watch my wallet. They, on the other hand, don't even take money for a door fee because they count on being able to flirt past the bouncer and flirt their way to drunkenness. Guys, we have got to stop setting a bad standard for the women of the world. All that chivalric crap died with women's rights. Sexes are equal now right? So then one shouldn't be able to rob the other blind. We have to put an end to this, it's our fault.

    [/rant]

Anybody else have a pet peeve about women they would like us to help conquer as men?

    :p

I find it easier to just leave it down 24/7.

The hole is big enough. Control and accuracy is another issue...

Maybe it's because the toilet seat must also be down for when you want to take a poo. So, proportionally speaking, the population requires the toilet seat to be down more often than up. ;)

I see your point, though! Also about the drinks, etc.

    true true and true

3/4 of the toilet functions require seat down. the 1 function that does not require the seat down can be done with it down. sure you may spray a bit if drunk, but all functions can be done with it down. I say that realisticly only 1 function can be done with it up without being an animal, or collage kid.

When a woman tells you you have to put the seat down tell her,
look, your the one who is going to fall in the water if you don't check the seat position, so your the one that probably needs to making sure it's down. And if the seat stays down and I don't check , I pee on the seat so your screwed again, so let's just leave it up.

Personally, I put the seat down and close the lid after I use the facilities. I don't want some open toilet there for me to accidentally drop my tooth brush in or anything.

As a matter of fact, it bothered me when I was married that my then-wife left the lid up.

I agree, even though I've never dropped a toothbrush before! :)

It just looks better when the toilet seat is down, either completely closed or the just the seat.

Have you ever noticed that the fluffy toilet seat covers they like to buy conveniently prevent the lid from staying in the up right position by itself?

Also, when they try to tell you, "I almost fell into the toilet last night because it was dark and I didn't know the seat was up..."

I mean,,,,come on...what man in his right mind doesn't check the position of the toilet seat before sitting down in the dark.

I always keep the toilet seat lid closed when I leave the bathroom as well.

But I'm just riddled with issues, so I have no logical excuse/explanation for my actions.

I totally agree with the drinks thing. It is up to men to put a stop to endorsing this behavior! I've been screaming that chivalry died with women's right for years. But everyone just calls me a jackass for saying it.

Fluffy covers suck. Those are the worst.

I have a pet peeve...but I won't mention it. Suffice to say I flush more often than my wife.

I always leave the lid down when I depart. I think it's polite, looks better and keeps the peace if you're living with a woman. It's gotten to where if I have a house guest who doesn't do it, it ticks me off... at least a little.

As far as buying drinks, when I was single, about a million years ago, we just took turns. Women's lib was in full flower and I got funny looks sometimes if I forgot and opened the door for a chick. I always bought the first round, though, unless I was beaten to it.

And people, there wasn't an STD that couldn't get taken care of with a shot. (I never needed one... was lucky, I guess) The pill was in widespread use. In short, most of you can only dream about what it was like back then for a single guy or lady. Man, was I lucky. I wish I were a lot younger, but I feel sorry for the lifestyle most of you have to lead today... as a single person of either sex.

thats a fact...I would absolutely hate to be single again with the dating scene the way it is now. I also was very lucky, since I was more promiscious than I should have been in the late 70's to the early 80's. ;)

I still hold doors for people of both sexes (more often for women) it's just the way I was brought up.

and I am also one of the ones that prefer the lid down when I leave a bathroom. It looks better and if you havent cleaned the bowl in a week or two, it looks much better with the lid down.

Now if I could just get the damn females of the house to do that also, I would be happy.

it's just soooooo rude the way women ALWAYS leave the seat down

that thing Heypartner mentioned about the seat cover is true. It's the kind of underhanded "oops, did I do that?" thing women love to do when house training a male. it flops back down. Of course, then you have to bend over, lean forward, and hold the dang lid up with one hand to take a whiz. the solution? use the sink. that will stop them from using the seat cover

usually one time will do it, but rinse and repeat as necessary

    ;)

The toilet looks a lot better with the lid down. That's what it's for. It's more sanitary. (Also, that way both you and us have to move something before and after using it.) There is also, of course, the idea that men may need the seat down some of the time, but women _never_ need the seat up.

Finally, who wants to look into a toilet with its seat up? Unless it's just been cleaned VERY recently, it's not pretty. (And if you guys... ummm, spray the bowl... and don't clean it up... at least the seat helps hide that from the rest of us.)

As for the drinks thing, a lot of women do it but I find that pretty scary. It's more about the girls not wanting to spend money than any kind of chivalry. So, if flirting gets you a drink, and drinks cost money, and flirting is (however small) a form of sexual "favor"... then you are essentially exchanging sexual favors for something of cash value. Same for the girls who date someone they're not really interested in just because he will buy them nice things. We all know what that makes you.

    No, no, no, no.

    Toilet seat schmoilet seat.

What bugs me about women is how they'll say something the moment they think it---no stop-gap between brain and mouth (women have admitted this one to me). So no matter how hurtful, it's already said.

But they want us to supposedly argue more, to communicate more.

Believe me, ladies: you don't want to know what we're thinking. And we don't want you to know what we're thinking: to us, it's either boring or bound to doom the relationship.

My question is "Where are you encountering these women that are doing all the nagging?" I can only think of several options here:

    1. You live alone, but the women that come over complain about the toilet seat. Solution: too bad for them. You pay the rent, it's your place you can do whatever the hell you want.
    2. You share your home with a woman. Solution: You have to compromise. Sorry, but that's the name of the game when you share a home with another person.
    3. You're at other womens' homes and use their toilets. Solution: too bad for you. They pay the rent, it's their place and they can have the toilet seat however they want.

BTW, like many of the other posters here, we keep the seat and lid down when not in use. Not only does it look better, but it stops our cats from putting their paws in and tracking toilet water all over the house. Plus if you study feng shui, you learn to always keep the toilet lid down (they believe an open toilet creates an energy drain in a house).

Isn't lifting the lid as much work as lowing the seat?

    I bet it did
