Now lets be realistic, Cato SUCKS! But he is a freaking amazing athlete. There is no way that he is this bad. I remember going crazy after his 12 block performance in the preseason.

First of all, I think we are all being harsh on him. This guy was in the best shape of his life when he got hurt. He came back very very out of shape. It takes time to get conditioning back. However, it has been long enough for him to make decent impacts on games.

If you look closely, the guy cant run. Watch him run up the court. He is the last one down every time. This could be due to 1 of two reasons. One, he lost track of who had the ball and couldnt react quick enough to realize that the Rockets turned over the ball for the 50th time.. or he is hurt!

The guy cant jump like he used to. Now Cato is not an old man and the man was a jumping, ball-swatting machine. When he dunks the ball, he gets like a 4 inch vertical.

My theory is, the guy is playing hurt.. VERY HURT. He has to have a groin injury(this is very common for athletes that take a long time off without stretching) or some type of ankle or knee problem. I dont think we should trade Cato, he has talent. Give the guy a chance, hes just not 100%.

    LOL!!!!

    <<deleted>>

I'm a fanatical homer and even I can see that Cato is just a 7 foot waste of space and money! Get rid of him NOW!!!!
I'm sick and tired of watching his pathetic excuse-for-a-basketball-player-ass out there in MY Rockets pajamas!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get me a REAL center...preferrably one who actually has a freakin heart! This guy needs to go to Broadway and play the Tinman in the Wizard of Oz remake! [IMG]
<font size="1"> damn, I just saw the other reference to Cato as the Tinman..I'm such an idiot'</font>

HAHA, I wish. I would be rolling in the dough as we speak. I don't know if Cato is worth all the money we are paying him, but the Cato that is playing now is not the real Cato.. thats all im saying. If he is hurt, I think he should sit out for the rest of the season to get better.. Los Rogers deserves all of the PT.

He can't even side step two feet to cut off a guard. Seattle's guards punked him tonight. On second thought, everyone punked him tonight.

And how about his work on the defensive glass against Seattle? How about the time when the ball fell right in his hands, and Gary Payton just reached up and took it away? Pathetic!

Kelvin Cato is good at running the floor and blocking shots. Remember, Cato was playing well last year because he was not injured. Last year Cato received alley-oops from Moochie Norris, Walt Williams, Shandon Anderson and Steve Francis, he was athletic, he blocked shots and was an intimidator under the rim. Hopefully, Cato will heal 100% from his injury and play like how he was playing last year. Good Luck Cato!

As a member of the 1999 NBA All Star reading team, Kelvin was asked the following:

What was your favorite children's book growing up and why?
"I love The Cat in the Hat by Dr. Seuss. I remember it being the funniest book, and I loved the rhymes."

What is your favorite book now and why?
"My favorite book now is The Color Purple by Alice Walker. It puts me back in the days of old and makes me see how poorly some people were treated."

What is the one book or story that you've read that has had a major impact on you and why?
"When I read stories about rap artist M.C. Hammer, it really affected me. He had it all and lost everything by not taking care of what he earned."

Is there any one person who, more than anyone else, got you interested in reading?
"All of my teachers asked me to read, but it was my mother who made me read."

    Why do you enjoy reading?
"I like to read because it takes you places you can't go with television. I also enjoy the peacefulness of reading."

Why do so many people have this notion that Cato used to run the floor? He has never ran the floor well. He's always the last one back on both ends. He was like that in Portland and now in Houston. IMO, Jason Collier runs the floor much better, only because he tries.

Another thing is this, against the Spurs I remember Jeff posted a topic, good defense by cato. I want to know where was his good defense, cause I didnt see anything. Duncan scored on him at will, Cato didnt even try to stop his shots.

The only thing wrong with Kelvin Cato is the fact that he's Kelvin Cato.

    Seriously.

You're being sarcastic, right? Who cares if he made Duncan work? TD still dominated him.

Franchise2001: Cato was mediocre at Iowa St (he played well in one Tournament game, which got him his draft position), he sucked in Portland, and he sucked now.

Yet you say somehow we're all just missing the "real Cato?" Do you think: the real Cato is the one that has played very well in 2 games in his career (NCAA's, and that preseason game), or the one that has sucked at all levels for YEARS?

I think what is wrong with Cato is falling for too many headfakes his whole life has given him chronic whiplash.

The real problem with Kelvin Cato is that he is an excuse generator, and tries to pass the buck on everyone else but himself. Ive said it before...Cato is a bust...If he keeps it up...he will be a superstar in the CBA!!!!!

I believe the medical terminology for the injury which Kelvin has suffered is "neutering."

Cato would be a much better defender if he'd just put his hands up on defense, he always has them glued to his side. I don't know why Rudy won't explain this to him.
