40% of the top 5 yesterday were from Rutgers #2 Harper, San Antonio #5 Bailey, Utah This HAS to be the single biggest mismanagement of talent in NCAA basketball history. I had always claimed that the 2007 total flameout by Rick Barnes and Texas vs USC in the round of 32 where they lost by 19 was the worst coaching job I'd ever seen. We're talking Kevin Durant & DJ Augustin vs Nick Young & Taj Gibson should have been a 19 point blowout the other direction so it was a disaster. However when you compare it to 2024-25 Rutgers it's like Rick Barnes belongs on the Mt Rushmore of NCAA coaches. How the heck do you bring in a recruiting class with 2 five stars (see above) and 3 four stars and lose to teams like Kennesaw State enroute to a losing record in the B1G including going 0-1 in the B1G tournament (to USC ironically enough) and capping it off with declining the NIT?
You get 2 5*, great, unless they have no idea how to play in a team concept at all (AKA the Calipari Kentucky Conundrum), especially in a league like the Big10(or whatever they call it now). Those 2 attempted over 840 FGs on the season...the next 6 players attempted about 900
