We had a guest speaker come in today to our class. Turns out he was the Senior VP from Reebok. He gave us some interesting knews about the Iverson trial case and how he's a good source of marketing etc etc. But of course I had to ask him about Steve Francis. He said the new Steve Francis shoes are already in the process and should be expected by Sept or Oct no more sharing with Jrich. However he did say Yao Ming has signed a contract with Reebok so they are trying to think of a way to market Yao and Stevie together. The guy also has part ownership of the Indiana Pacers and talked about how Artest, Sheed, Patterson, Jrose are not bad guys. Sheed smokes dope yes but bad guy? No. Artest anger problems yes but bad guy no. So some people asked the obvious question who are some of the bad guys?.... He was skeptical to answer but of course we got it out of him.. Polyniece and Mason he mentioned. After class I went up to him to thank him for his time and also told him that I was a huge Steve Francis fan and he said we can expect big things from him and Reebok is greatful to have him. Couple more tidbits he said Steve Francis was a great guy but he was one cheap b*stard! lol I found that kind of funny and he said Iverson on the other hand blew money on everything. He also talked about Jalen Rose for a little bit and said he missed out on some guest speaking activities and said his contract with Reebok would not be resigned. Also talked about Lebron James and he said its between Reebok and Nike. Adidas is out of the question. Thanks.
i hope yao signs with nike. the plan for the nike commercial for yao sounded a lot more interesting. showing yao playing while he was younger and then saying nike's been with yao every step of the way. that sounds like an interesting commercial.
He mentioned Mr. Knight only had to pay Yao $50,000 to resign him but they (Nike) decided against it supposedly.
