Hello, I just got back from an absolutely AMAZING trip to Kenya. I was there for 8 days, and went on a safari to 3 of the many National Parks. The country is extremely beautiful, and the people even moreso. I would recommend everyone to try and make it out there - it is such an incredible experience, and so humbling at the same time. I bought a new camera for the trip, and went totally bonkers, taking over 1150 pictures in the process. I have finally narrowed them down to about 400, and after getting some good feedback, I thought I'd share with the BBS family There are other albums on the page, and I would appreciate everyone respecting the other people in the other pictures Soo ... here goes: Kenya Pictures There is also a blog that goes with the trip. Actually, the blog is more encompassing than just Kenya ... but it has the first 2 days on it, the rest coming soon. Anyways, I hope you guys enjoy the pictures ... Adios!
Rockit, that's great you got to go! Kenya, Namibia, and Egypt are some of the places on the top of my places to visit list. I'm not going to look at your pics right now due to being on sloooow dial-up at the moment, but I will when I get home. I met a master gardener here in the Dallas area who works at Lowe's for a few months, then goes to Alaska for a few months, followed by running safaris in either Namibia or Kenya the rest of the year. He was telling me how great it was out there and the beauty of Alaska and several regions of Africa are difficult to match anywhere else. Can't wait to see your pics and your blog, but most of all, thanks for sharing!
Hey I just came back from Alaska!! One of the most amazing places in the world. Went flightseeing and have no words to descrive what I saw. Glaciers and snow everywhere. I thought I was in that scene of Lord of the Rings when the fellowship is deciding whether to go into the Mines of Moria.
Absolutely amazing. Just from looking at those pictures it is hard to believe how much you saw in only 8 days. I was once booked to go to Kenya, but my father then had some health issues, and our trip changed. I would love to go sometime. It really looks incredible.
Dude, you have just given me some great wallpapers for my desktop Thanks bro, Great Job! For your next trip, try to make it to Egypt, but you will need a couple of weeks MIN if you want to be able to see anything, there is just too much to do there. And yes, it is true, I have to be dragged back here by my family everytime I go visit there.
Wow, those pictures look like they came out of National Geographic. That's awesome. Hope I can go someday.
What part did you go to? Did you take one of the standard cruise things or did you do it independently? My Alaska travel consultation is free to any of you BBS'ers rockit, outstanding pictures! Thanks for sharing.
Took the Sapphire Princess from Seattle. Our three stops were Juneau, Ketchikan and Skagway. Did canoeing in Juneau, water rafting and glacier watching in Ketchikan and flightseeing in Skagway. Loved evrery mintue of it. Couldn't believe how nice the weather was in all the cities. I never eat fish, but decided to try some fried salmon and shrimp in one of those cities and was absolutely blown away. The flightseeing was a once in a lifetime type of thing. Watching a dozen or so glaciers and all that snow was absolutely amazing.
Yes, please go right ahead. Infact, you can have the original copies if you tell me which ones you want. These are kinda small and don't show as much clarity as the originals ... they're at 2400X1600, so u'll have more to work with. You can email me at terpsrock@gmail.com Same goes for tigermission1 ... I can send u the big ones so it looks better on the desktop. And thank you all for taking the time to go thru the pics, I appreciate it. FranchiseBoi ... it's a Pentax *ist D. It's a little old by US standards, but it's the new thing here in Saudi ... no complaints. The lens is a 28-200, not the best, but in bright light, it'll get the work done. If you click on the individual images, it'll show the exact settings for the shot. FB ... I really hope you get the chance to go again. It is truly a sensory overload. These are less than 30% of all the shots ... and so many other times I couldn't take pics because the car was on the move, or it was raining, etc. But again, thanks all for taking a look ... feel free to spread the link
No offense to rockit's photographic abilities, but judging by those pics, it seems like you could drop your camera on the shutter button and get a National Geographic cover picture anywhere in Kenya. Thanks for sharing those, rockit, they were indeed very awesome. Life doesn't always screw you, does it EDIT: Wait, where are all the topless Kenyan chicks?
