I work for a company that sells phone service. I take calls from all sorts of people sometimes these folks are calling us because they have been disconnected from their current provider because they can’t pay their bill. Well I get this call today from a woman who was wanting to get phone service at her home and she needed our account information to make her first payment through western union. Then she tells me she had the information yesterday when I gave it to her but she was robbed last night. This has really pissed me off. She sounds old and then she also told me she has a disability I don’t know what disability she has but who the hell is low enough to rob a woman of their belongings…that’s pretty freaking low. I don’t know what I would do if someone robbed my moms or my lil sis. Just had to get this off my chest…
Unfortunately, criminals target the old, the young and the weak exactly because they are vulnerable and much more easy to overpower or to take advantage of. They wouldn't be very "good" criminals if they didn't prey on the easier targets.
If you get disgusted easily don't read this next paragraph: Over 2 years ago a young lady came into the emergency room I worked at who had just been sexually assaulted by 2 men. I was taking X-rays at the time and she was strangely rushed into my X-ray room to get a KUB(Abdominal X-ray). I sadly found out that the 2 men raped her with a longneck bottle that they broke, BEFORE they began 'raping' her with it. The end where the bottlecap use to sit was intact and was used as the handle, but the bottom part was broken off in a sort of knife shape... this part was inside her still when she came in. I felt so bad for her . She was this beautiful, petite, young black lady that was just getting some money from an ATM machine by Greenspoint Mall when these 2 guys came out and try to have their way with her after they robbed her. She was obviously traumatized. Her tears just kept flowing without much of an expression on her face. Anyways, I had to move her from the stretcher on to my Xray table to get the picture. I tried to use a much caution as possible but even when she moved the slightest I could hear the glass grinding inside her. Truly one of the most upsetting nights in the ER I've ever been apart of, although there have been some that have come close. Fortunately I was working the outpatient side of the same hospital 2 weeks from that day and she happened to one of my patients who was doing a checkup after her surgery. She seemed very reserved and doing much better, but I had to ask if they ever caught those guys. She said they actually caught them the same day. I was a little relieved that they caught those animals, but, just to realize what people are capable of makes me wonder about the civility of the human race. Sorry if this upsets some, I know its pretty gross.
You definitely see some crazy **** in the ER of a big city. This is pretty sadistic though. It's hard to see how anybody can derive pleasure from that.
Severe Rockets Fans: Wow. I can't even imagine to understand how you felt seeing that situation, and much much much to the infinity power less can I understand how the poor lady felt.
This is one of the reason I could not be in Medicine I would go home near to tears every night not to mention ready to kill tow sorry son of a b*tches THEY SHOULD FRY!! Rocket River glad she survived
This is why I'm not in law enforcement. Thoses bastards would have been dead before I got them to the squad car.
If I would have been her b/f, husband, father or brother, I would have found those two animals and killed them very, very, very slowly and left their mangled bodies hanging from a tree in their neighborhood. I may be a Christian, but the Old Testament "eye for eye, tooth for tooth, stripe for stripe" speaks to me there. I pray that no one ever hurts my wife or daughter, because I don't even want to think about what I'd do to the sonuvabitch in a fit of rage.
Its sad, but you sort of get calloused after seeing case after case of these horrible things. BenTaub and Hermann see a lot more stuff than I do, I did go to school at BenTaub and LBJ, but never worked the nights there. Houston Northwest is just a trauma 2(BT is a trauma 1) hospital, but some people don't have enough time to make it downtown so they go to the closest ER. The worst thing is if she hurt one of those guys, we'd have to treat them like regular clients/patients. So many people come into the ER acting like belligerent fools but expect us to treat them with respect, which of course we have to. Don't even get me started on the drunk drivers.
i just cant imagine being a doctor working on a murderer or drunk driver or any criminal without cutting of their oxygen....i just would have no desire to save or help someone that hurts someone else and then comes in for help
