Apparently a UK PSP magazine has a scoop on some of the future plans for the PSP, which includes details on a GPS attachment, the PSP EyeToy, and the PS1 emulation. Here's a post by Robinspain of Neo-GAF with the details:

I put a question mark in the thread title since I'm not sure how trustworthy the magazine or even the poster is (although I think he works at a European magazine as well IIRC). So you might want to take some of it with a grain of salt, at least the specifics (EX: PS1 "launch lineup" with FF, SH, Castlevania, etc.).

Are they ever going to fix the short battery life problem?

They released a better battery a while back IIRC. Personally, I've never had problems with the battery life. I never actually drained the battery all the way to see for sure, but it seems like I get about 5-6 hours minimum on all the games I have. Considering I have problems playing games for more than 3 hours or so at a time (except for Oblivion), that's more than enough battery life for me.
