as much as i personally hate rumors and speculation, i can't help but share this with everyone (and sorry i started a new thread and didn't post in Doc Rocket's...going through 17 pages is hell)... a good friend of mine is a ball boy for the Rockets. he's friends with just about everyone on the team and knows many of the guys in the organization, and they know him on a first-name basis. he's honest, and i'd say very credible. so here's what he's had to say bout the rox: 1) first off, the BIG NEWS - word around the locker room is that rudy will NOT be back next season. management has already decided to fire him, but rudy will most likely stand down on his own, crediting his cancer as the reason. whether or not he'll take a position upstairs is still unknown. how sure is this 'source'? 100%, i'm told. 2) player personalities - SF uses A LOT of vulgarity. well for the most part, everyone does. but SF especially. the only one who doesn't and is surprisingly very well-spoken is veteran glen rice. my friend was asked by SF to bring around his car. that day it happened to be a very nice mercedes with leather interior and the initials 'SF' etched on both of the head rests. veeery nice car. one of the many he has. 3) yao news: yes, yao is pretty funny. and as everyone knows, he CAN speak english pretty well. SF once played rap/hip-hop for yao and asked him if he liked it. apparently yao was quick to dismiss this style of music. this is pretty much the meat of what i was told. everything else my friend told me really isn't that relevant (although someone in the locker room is now missing size 20 shoes and someone else is missing a pair of retro unis shorts ). i wasn't able to find out any other info (like the status on mobley or who'd be the new coach) due to time constraints. but i will try my best to dig up some more insider info in the near future. you don't have to believe all of what i said, since all of it IS hearsay. i know not much official info is 'leaked' into the locker rooms. but imo, i believe every word of my source's since he also has a relative in a very high (and important) position with the rox managment. have fun with what's here. oh, and as soon as i obtain more info, i'll let everyone know what's up.
I am not sure about this, why would they send Rudy to Europe to scout if is he isn't going to be the coach? That's an expensive to trip to send somebody one if they aren't going to be coaching your team next year.
Well this off season is going to be fun for everyone linked with Rockets. Aint surprised about SF's passion for the f-word. Hey did any of our guys loose any 'pot' in the locker roommmmmmmmms. Well Rudy could be off to Europe to re-start his stint as a scout!!!!! He seems to like that. I have strange feeling Rudy leaving might be true - because the players - atleast Yao and SF have publicly attempting to make a pitch for him. They wouldn't be if they were sure that he is coming back. Just my two cents.
I talked with the lady that works the cash register at Wataburger inside Compaq Center, and her sources tell her that Rudy will be back.
Let's see.....Doc Rocket, who's sources have been proven as credible, or you, a new member, who's sources haven't proven jack crap! I would go with Doc Rocket. Hi Eric, No disrespect to you or your friend, but from what I read from so called basketball analysts, they all say rudy will be back. I mean if rudy is 100% fired and the ball boy confirmed, how would it be possible that these analysts dont hear any RUMOURS. These analysts are paid to make the rumours and I think they have much more sources than a ball boy. It's just a logical thinking from a normal nba fan but I hope your friend would be right. People with the Rockets read this site regularly, so I'm surprised you gave out so much info on your "source". Guess we'll see credible it is. Honestly, I hope your not offended, but anyone could make this stuff up. Why don't you post pics of the shoes and shorts? Give us more to go on? This kid is old enough to drive a car??

He is actually right here. They do have ball boys at practice and do keep the same ones for a long time. i had a friend who did it for like 5 years and they definitely spend a lot of time with the players. so all that about yao and steve is probably true. they do however, get honorary ball boys to do games every once in a while, but they dont actually do anything on the court really. having said all this, i agree with the others that this insider info was kind of weak.
This is what was most shockinga bout this thread. If you have sources, you usually try to protect them.
Rumors can fly around a place. One person can overhear what another person said in a fit of anger; the next person can overhear that same person at a later time, in a calmer moment, saying the opposite of what had been said before... If Rudy stays, he would have to understand that it would be with different personnel (no more favorite son Cat Mobley). If he can't adjust, well...good-bye. If Rudy goes....as long as it doesn't alienate Yao. We need Big Boy.
Perhaps the source is accurate, just his info is dated. Doc did say the first word was Rudy was gone, but this recently changed. The season has been over a little while. How long has it been since the ball boy was around the players? Let's not be too quick to flame people who say they have insider info (unless they are arses like TroyBaros), because we may end up scaring off legitimate sources. From past history, we should have learned that posters should be able to tell us they overheard someone talking on a cell phone about a big trade without getting lynched.
