i remember during vlade divac's first few years in the league (when he was still a laker) he had a little trick to picking up offensive fouls against more powerful centers.... he would COMMIT a few at the beginning of the game (real obvious fouls - not "the off-hand push off" foul). then the refs would be more likely to call the opposing center for similar power moves...

i'm wondering if yao should do this against someone like shaq. i know it's not his style to bowl anyone over, but if he really tried to do this a few times at the beginning of the games, i think the refs would feel obligated to keep the rest of the game from getting physical - which would ultimately be in yao's favor. then any little flop by yao could get shaq thinking a little bit.

also does anyone think that both yao and cato at the same time could help slow shaq down on a night where kobe wasn't going crazy anyways.
