All three of these players are outstanding players and have unbelievable potential. The three of them as a team's core could make the Rockets a dynasty one day. However, even looking on the forum disgusts me because of how split the fans are. The solution is easy. So far, all players have been streaky so instead of playing with the same gameplan every night, just go with the hot hand. If yao is playing like a pansy than go to cat and francis. If the shots arent falling for cat and francis, take it inside to yao. If none of them can do anything, than no matter what we do we are going to lose.

i'm all for going with the hot hand. The rockets are blessed with 2 great scorers and one very good scorer.we should use them.but i think the gameplan is mostly playing alot to Yao and see what will happen. if someone gets hot then play him more. and let him shoot.i think the rockets have done that.

Going with the hot hand is great, but it won't stop the bashing on these boards.

They don't go to the hot hand enough. I hate to come off as a Yao only fan but in our first Portland loss, Yao was 4-4 in FG 2-2 in FTM with a total of 10 points in the 1st quarter. He never received much attention for the rest of the night was just neglected. And no just tossing the ball into him in a post up isn't good. I'd like to see picks set for Yao so he can get good looks at the FT line. It'd stop him from getting bodied up when he shoots a jumper. He shoots well enough that they should try that more often. While Yao is often the guy that sets pick, they should set more picks for Yao especially when he's hot. But it's not just Yao that doesn't get the ball when he's hot.

Mobley last night didn't when he was practically the only guy shooting at a decent percentage. It isn't always about dumping the ball down to create a mismatch. Soemtimes it actually helps to set a couple of picks, move the ball around and have the hot hand work his way around the court for an open pass when his defender isn't harrassing him. We don't use our hot hands well enough and simply resort to the logic that dumping the ball down for an ISO situation is the same as taking advantage of the hot hand. It puts more pressure on the hot hand to score and increases the likelihood that he'll cool off. Make the job easier for the hot hand by setting up plays to get his defender off of him for a moment and increase the chances of scoring. But we don't do that enough and it's not a fault against the players, but against the coaches (That is unless the players choose to ignore the coaches, in which case it's still the coaches fault for instilling discipline into the players.)

A lot of truth was told here. Many fans don't understand truth when its spoken, please post more often!
I would like to see Steve make quick crisp and accurate passes directly into Yao Ming. When Yao Ming is set in position and is calling for the ball Steve mostly passes to the corner and its this player that mostly passes into Yao Ming. This extra pass is wasted time and is a signal to the defence to move towards Yao Ming.

    Oh geez...

For months you have been saying that SF cant pass..

So, the offensive set calls for the 3 to make the pass to the post...therefore taking the ball out of SF's hands(which you and others have been screaming for to happen)...and yet, STILL you complain.

What do you really want....dont cover with this "team basketball" stuff you have started with recently..what do you really want to see?

    Guards gone?
come on, tell the truth...you know that is what you want.

For months you talk about how the guards are no good and cant pass or better yet...don't *want* to pass..so when they no longer are the ones in a position to pass to the post...now you want them to be the ones to pass to the post?

I personally am fine with using the 3 to pass it into the post...we seem to have better results when we do..
