I know many of you have been posting that we should "get rid of Francis" or "dump Mobley" as of late, but I have a different idea that will revitalize our team. I'm talking about trading for Greg Ostertag. This guy can rebound, hustle, take it to the rim, and pump up the crowd. Don't forget to vote and let your opinions be heard.
While Ostertag's a pretty decent player he's older and doesn't have the potential that either Yao or Cato has. I don't think Ostertag is going to get any better while its likely (hopefully) that Yao and Cato will. Other than trading one of our big men I'm not sure who the Jazz might want for him. Anyway I'm detecting a little bias here from the name of the poster who started this thread.
Let's look closely: You're first post... You want to trade for not only a bad center, but a bad center who plays for the Jazz... You include a poll... Dude, I hope you're wearing asbestos underwear.
You want our opinions to be heard? You forgot to put moronic before human in your last sentence. There you go.
I like the idea of getting a decent backup with an expiring contract, who we could resign for less (or cut). In an even exchange for Cato, it would get us out from under his contract, and give some flexibility in future years. Ostertag and Cato are not so different. Tags is reasonably effective in a limited role. However, I don't much like the picture your username envokes. It's hard to get past that.
My thoughts also. BTW between names like "ostersex" and "catoinstitute" I don't think we're in for an objective analysis.
Nice second post! Sorry to disappoint you, *Oystersex*, but I work as an editor. When I'm on cc.net, though, I'm off-duty and don't bother to proof my own posts. Now let's see if you can be so witty while explaining why you think Ostertag would be a necessary addition to this team.
I didn't like the trade idea at first but I hadn't considered the contract implications which make sense. Of course because of those same implications I doubt the Jazz would go for the trade either.
Topfive, Ostertag: 7.4 ppg, 9.1 rpg Cato: 6.2 ppg, 8.5 rpg Not to mention the expiring contract benefit, which was already mentioned here by people sharper than yourself... You should do your own homework and learn a thing or two about the value of information...
Honestly, 'Tag' is about the same player as Cato. Replacing Cato for 'Tag' wouldn't help us a bit offensively, which is where we need the help. He has an expiring contract but if we let him go who do we have to back up Yao? Tag is 30 and not getting better. He's been known as a lazy thorn in Sloan's side for awhile now...why bring that to the rockets? And he's on the team that we've HATED for years now...the Jazz!
Thanks for the scolding, Mom. Let me point out that you know nothing about me or any of the other posters here. Ostertag also has a nasty little habit of dropping out of sight for LONG stretches at a time if he gets in a funk. See 1999-2002 for more info. Also, your trade would leave us woefully thin at PF -- a position at which Ostertag would be completely lost, unlike Cato, who does a decent (albeit not great) job. Last you say he can "This guy can rebound, hustle, take it to the rim, and pump up the crowd." Cato can rebound as well, hustle as well and take it to the rim as well. As for that "pump up the crowd" thing, like Cato, he was getting booed off the floor just a short while back. Now about that user name of yours, does that mean you're Ostertag's sister?
