    For a player who'd game is based in providing high energy, I can understand that conditioning is a priority. I hope he's doing some things to improve his offensive skills as well.

    And you guys can stay tune with my coverage of Chuck Hayes while he is still in China.

    If what he said is true, one of the activities on his agenda is the cotract extension with Li Ning. And probably there will be news coverage on it.

    If that happens in these days or 2, I hope I can find this news and photos, and I will post them here to share with you guys. :cool:

    Chinese fans in Mainland China have an interesting nick name for Chuck Hayes. The reporter asked Hayes if he was aware of it during his recent visit to China. Hayes seeked help from Yao in that press conference but Yao couldn't translate it for him.

    Hayes is pronounced as "Hi Ye Si" 海耶斯 in Mandarin. Chinese fans hence call him "Hi Ye" 海爺. Sorry I can't do the translation for you either, my best trial will be "Hayes Daddy". Other Chinese clutchfans please offer your help here.

    Well, the other more common and popular nick name for Chuck is Ban Ye 板爺; the word Ban 板 literally means rebounds。

    Well, in Northern China, the word Ye 爺 does not really mean Daddy. It means uncle, your Dad's brother.

    And usually the word Ye 爺 is reserved for someone you respect or look up to.

    Thanks pryuen. You are obviously the better translator. I am not sure but I guess they use "daddy" for similiar meaning, i.e. someone you respect of look up to, like "Boom Daddy" for Baron Davis and "Who's your daddy?" for Shane Battier. If my guess is correct, than I think "Hayes Daddy" or "Hi Daddy" is about right for 海爺.
