Where can one get a pick-up soccer game on a Saturday night? I have a friend who just came in from Cali and he wants to play tonight and I would appreciate a few suggestions what to expect. I have not played in over 3 years and so for that reason I have lost all my contacts.

    Thanks in advance.

PS. Please include if there is a fee and also location & start times.

Soccer has been the most popular youth sport in America for the past 15 years.

It's very popular for kids age 6/7 up to 15/16.

If advertisers could play commercials throughout the game it would be a popular pro sport here as well ~ it's all about money.

Yes I have played plenty soccer. I have not always lived in the USA all my life. I played during my brief stinct in Hamburg, Germany and also in Bijlmermeer [sp??] neighborhood in Amsterdam as well.

I used to play regularly in Houston until I tore my ACL. Marriage and school came along as well alomost immediately and they contributed to my current 3-year layoff. I hope to break that dry spell today :)

Yes soccer is huge here in the Houston and USA at large. The success at the youth level just has not translated into Major League success here yet like you have in the rest of the majority of the countries on this earth.

Bijlmermeer? Really:D that is about 20 minutes by car from my parents house(were i used to live)

yeah i gues that is the problem. Also i think that there is not enough action for america? or am i mistaken? Soccer can be a great sport, it is so easy to do for kids, all you need is a bal and you can play, just lay 2 jersey's on the ground ass goalposts, and you are ready to play.

Yes in one of those hig rise apartments back in 1995. There used to be a periodic market around there as well. It is not very far from Amsterdam stadium where Ajax play their home games. I plan to visit again next year. When I was there Patrick Kluivert, Kanu were just graduating from the academy (Junior Ajax team). Later Edgar Davis, Musampa and con followed soon after. Anyway those were the days - I still have fairly strong ties in Amsterdam.

do you know there was a plain crash in those flats? it was back in 1990 orso(not sure about the exact year).
Those were idd the days for dutch soccer fans. Ajax was the best team in the world, and they had the best youth training program.
Why were you there? for work?
will you visit amsterdam again next year? when? how long?

I was there between July 1995 and January of 1996. I lived with uncle who was trying to urge to live there and continue schooling but I fancied my chances and academic opportunities in the US more so I went with my heart. I have not made up my mind when I will visit in 2006 but when I do it will be for 1-2 weeks.

Where do you live in Holland?

My uncle is not Dutch but he has lived there over 2 decades and he speaks Dutch fluently. He calls Holland home now. I was in the process of learning Dutch but it has all faded now. But I can read Dutch and Deutch (especially Deutch) quite fairly.
