    United States vs. Mexico
    February 7, 2007
    Phoenix, AZ
    8:00 p.m., ESPN2, Univision
(Actual kickoff scheduled for 8:25 p.m.)

    US Soccer: http://www.ussoccer.com/index.jsp.html

This is the first time the rivals have met since the US defeated Mexico 2-0 to clinch a spot in FIFA World Cup 2006.

Both squads are bringing their "A" squads (or as close as can be expected).

Confirmed Euros for the US: Onyewu, Beasley
Confirmed Euros for Mexico: Marquez, Salcido, Pardo, and Castillo

The US is 6-0-1 against Mexico on US soil since 2000 scoring 11 goals and conceding none in those 7 games.

Not too sure about this game. I wasn't impressed with the Denmark game...even with a 3-1 win. I think Mexico wins because the US is more in the mode of trying to find a new way. Should be a good game simply because of the rivalry. We never want to lose to Mexico and the younger players will be looking to impress.

I think we'll be a little sharper than we were in the Denmark game because the camp roster for this game is basically a repeat of the Denmark camp.

It's going to be an exciting year in the US-Mexico rivalry with this game, the Gold Cup, Copa America and the Superliga.

I agree, having so many young players on the team makes me nervous. Hopefully the European players we bring in will add enough experience to the roster so we can pull off a win.

With McBride retired it's become even more obvious how weak we are at forward. Ching, Twellman, and Johnson are the only ones that have experience with the national team (and not much at that), and Johnson hasn't done anything worth mentioning in a while.

Ouch, halfbreed... OUCH... nice stats, though. I believe this will get lost in the Hangout, since the game will be almost a WEEK from now...

Freaker, It's "SwoLy-D"... not what YOU said. :p

Estados Unidos' fans, I think the goalies made a lot of difference in the last 5 years for your squad. No Brad, no Kelsey? No shutouts.

Don't worry, SwoLy, I'll bump it close to gameday if it falls into the bowels of the Hangout.

For this game, you're probably right. In the long term, the US still churns out the best keepers in the world. Hahnemann (sp?) is very good. Howard is getting better and is having a pretty good season in England. There are plenty of replacments waiting in the wings...

We should play the match for the border of Mexico !!

If the US wins, we annex Mexico, if Mexico wins, they get to come over the borders unfettered.

    USA USA USA !!

DrLudicrous, that IS the best you've done. :D See... 'Max and Uprising couldn't. I'll remember it if MEXICO wins.

DaDarkOne, if Estados Unidos wins, Mexico will lend Estados Unidos our only tank for the Iraq invasion ;).
