Thought the final deserved it's own thread...

UEFA Champions League Final - 5/21/08
    Moscow
ESPN coverage begins at 1 pm central. Kickoff will probably be close to 2 pm

    Manchester United vs. Chelsea

An all-English final in Moscow. There are some concerns about the appearance and feel of the pitch, but UEFA is saying it won't be a problem. Slovakian referee Lubos Michel will be in charge. He was the referee who awarded a highly-controversial goal to Liverpool against Chelsea in the 2005 semi-finals.

It's a match up of a great offense vs. a great defense. The combination Rooney, Tevez, and Ronaldo is probably the best in the world. If Chelsea looses this game, don't be surprised to see wholesale changes before next season.

Either way, this should be a fantastic game.

    My prediction -
    Manchester United 2 - Chelsea 1

ESPN is doing it for $9.95. I'm sure there will be a free stream somewhere out there.

None of the ESPN stations show the game on the guide, and there's nothing on now.

How is this game not playing on ESPN or ESPN2?

ESPN2 is showing it, the listing has the pregame from 1:00-1:25 and the game from 1:25-4:00.

There's a freakin' Lacrosse game on

Oh well, if not this game then I will just watch the Real Madrid vs. Al-Nasr soccer match friendly live from the beautiful Riyadh stadium in Saudi Arabia, which is underway as we speak. :p

At least you won't have to worry about missing that Real Madrid vs. Al-Nasr game now.

Easy mate, like they said its on wednesday.

I am shaking in anticipation, i've been giddy since monday, I can't blood believe it. NINE FLIPPIN YEARS, now we're back in the final. All those semi and quarter final losses, all of them forgotten all for tomorrow. I'll be at the Londoner in Addison TX by about 10am tomorrow just a nervous wreck.

Word is Cashley's injured. Hopefully Terrys shoulder gets done in again and Droggles is half fit.

    Let's go United.

    THERE'S ONLY ONE UNITED!

I'm a Liverpool fan, and I hate Chelsea much more as well (friggin Lampard's dirty plays and Drogba's flopping). I'll get chastised by fellow Liverpool fans for saying this, but go ManU!

Who's out for United? I'd think they would trot out a Ronaldo-Scholes-Hargreaves/Carrick-Nani midfield

After the West Ham debacle, Nani will be lucky to get a spot on the bench. Even before that, he's been way too inconsistent this season to be giving a starting spot in a game of this magnitude. Park has been the starter for all the big European matches thus far, so I assume he'll get the start, although I wouldn't be surprised if Fergie gives Giggs the start.

And no one is out, this is the first time we've had a fully fit squad all season.

    I suspect we'll see:

    -----------VDS-------------
    Brown----Rio---Vidic-----Evra
    ---Hargreaves---Scholes---Carrick
    Ronaldo--------------------Park
    -----------Rooney-------------

Although Rooney could play in Park's place with Tevez coming on.

I think Man U has been the best team in Europe this season, so I would like them to win. Plus since they beat my team (Olympique Lyonnais) in this competition, at least I would be able to say: "Hey, we lost against the european champion !"
