i doubt we make any deals with memphis.

in the dennis lindsay thread, he said we could draft any position. that means take the best guy left. i doubt that who we draft has anything to do with the rest of our offseason moves.

if i had to come up with a realistic FA PF list it would like this:

    SAR
    marshall
    horry
    anderson
    haslem
    rogers
    kukoc

chandler is restricted so we cant get him, swift will be offered 10 mil a year (no way he takes half that to come here), we don't want walker. these are the best guys left.

only SAR and marshall can be considered "impact" FA's. maybe horry but only in the playoffs.

if we are looking for more of an "impact" then i would look towards the guards:

    cat
    AD
    jaric
    stoudamire
    bonzi
    watson
    knight
    payton
    damon jones
    kittles
    mcinnis
    spree

joe johnson, and houghs are out of are price range. cat would be an impact FA but he doesnt "fit with yao, tmac, and what JVg want to do" as lindsay put it. AD is restricted and seattle would match our MLE offer. a S&T for james wouldn't work out because AD wants more money that that. thats why he is opting out to begin with.

it's a tough call, but tuesday night will clear things up a bit.

In what stone is it written that the Rox will pursue a FA 4? I don't discount the possibility that trades will be the route pursued more than FA signings, at least for 'full' MLE.

It sounds like an interpretation, unfortunately, it's a realistic one. The door on the cat may be swinging shut but ... let's not read that deep into it.

    My PF picks:

    SAR
    Haslem
    Wright
    Anderson

in no specific order. Any of these guys would help our team.

What is the fascination for Wright, at the wrong price? he's ok, not so young, and grossly overpaid -- and wanting more!

What is the fasciation for Swift? He can jump out of the gym and -- and what? I'd rather have JHo than SS. Is he an underachiever or overrated?

The Grizz I'd like is JPo.

We could always work out a S&T w/ Swift somehow. Memphis might not like dealing w/ us, but they might as well get something in return for him.

I like the fact that Dennis Lindsey talked about the league becoming more about speed, let's me know that we are going to try to get faster and more athletic.

I can't wait for the first deal of the summer or the draft, like you said, it will really clear things up for what's to come.

I'm not sure you're correct re AD. I thought if a player opts out they're a unrestricted FA, unless they decline to take up year 5 of their rookie contract. Is AD at that point in his career? Just feels like he's been playing for longer than that..

AD has a player option, which he will almost certainly use. That means he's unrestricted and Seattle can't do anything.

what was said was something like this:

    1. we will look for an impact FA
    2. we will look to ad players that compliment yao and tmac and also fit well with JVG.

what i took from this is, cat fits well with statement #1, but he doesn't pass #2. therefore i will take him off my list.

ARUBA - looks like we want the same PF's.

GUCCI - it's possible, yes. BUT, memphis could also decide not to do any S&T for him to limit his options.

HARUMPH - some sites say he is restricted. although, if a player opts out then they are unrestricted. good point. either way I hope we get him withough trading james. AD and james would lock up our PG spot.

Antonio Daniels is a FA. A S&T with James & Ward for Daniels will work.

if he is an unrestricted FA then we can keep james and just sign him to the MLE. I was under the impression that he was restricted, and so i didn't think that AD would sign for the money james is getting.

i would be happy with signing AD for the MLE. I wouldn't be shocked to see that he is the frist guy JVG goes after this offseason.

No free agent or trade. We will draft Martynas Andriuskevicius or Angelo Gigli or Mile Ilic.

I'd prefer Sura & Ward for Daniels but they might insist on James. I would be willing to give James up to get Daniels. I think it is easier to do a S&T for Daniels (or other PGs) because we can trade them a decent PG back with a decent salary. We can't say that with our other positions. This way saving our MLE for someone else- PF or SG.
