So who did you choose? Kaiden or Ashley? Yeah I know I am late to the party, but I finally got around to giving it some serious time, and enjoying it pretty well, hoping to just go right from this when I finish into ME2 (by the way, is there some way to save them both? I assume not.. curse you Bioware!)
You can't save them both. I picked Ashley, and regretted my decision almost immediately. Just finished ME1 after first played it almost a year ago. Current plan is to finish Dragon Age before starting ME2.
It didn't matter to me because I never took either of them on missions so the only incentive to save one over the other is if you were following the romantic subplot. You could make Shepard a female and in that case, Kaiden would have been a potential partner instead of Ashley. So I'm sure the female players chose Kaiden most of the time.
Well, I am just playing it straight through as a non-super-powered Commando type, which is pretty much exactly what Ashley is/was.. so I let her fry and kept Kaiden (who seems potentially more useful from that standpoint), and apparently the game felt sorry for me because is just gave me some pretty nice blue-babe Avatar-type sexy-sexytime.. I like! High Five! (besides, if you ask me, I think Ashley may have been playing for the other team, if you know what I mean)
The very first time I played the game I chose Ashley because I was extremely xenophobic at the time and Liara annoyed me. I shuddered at the thought of sexual contact with a blue skinned alien. So I let Kaiden die. The second time I tried a three way but was immediately rebuffed by Ashley. I sucked it up and got down with Liara and found that I rather enjoyed it. Xenophobia cured! I don't remember who I let die, probably Kaiden again. The third time I played the game I realized how annoying Ashley was with her big ass fish eyes and fish lips. Plus she's only NCO cannon fodder, while Kaiden is an officer with telekinetic super powers. Those kind of people aren't dime-a-dozen. Kaiden lives! Yes, I have no life.
I thought this was an American Idol thread (not that I follow it). I wish my laptop wasn't a POS from 2004 so I could actually play recent games on it.
From a quick Google search of the names.... Kaiden: vs Ashley: I think, I'm going to have to lean towards Ashley.
