So what's V-Span's trade value?

I think it's pointless to discuss whether or not we should develop V-Span, because Jeff Van Gundy clearly is not. However, I think V-Span is still valuable to us: at the form of trade value.

I believe most teams will look past his lack of production this season and see the potential, and I believe we can sell that potential to land a good trade.

For me personally, I'd like to see Andre Miller in our team and I believe a young team like Philly would relinquish him for a few young guys of our own. We could even trade V-Span and only just one Rocket ( Hayes? ) for someone like Miller or whatever quality player in return.

So the main question: What is V-Span's trade value and do you think we can " sucker " another team enough to take him for a good trade without sacrificing more than one of our main guys?

I'm not sure if only the WC games are enough to trade Span

I think the management might stick to him for a while, but we will see

    it's early to tell

We might be able to get a new set of Gatorade towels and some headbands for him.

We can't keep on holding on to him; the more we hold on to him, the lesser his " value from potential " becomes. I don't think JVG will ever use him, whether JVG is right or not about him, I just know that V-Span is at odds with JVG and that's enough to know he's a dead man in terms of being with the Rockets.

If we're going to get rid of V-Span, we may was well do it now when he's still got market value off the WC and his potential. There are enough dumb GMs out there to trade solid value for potential.

    I want Andre Miller.

VSpan, Hayes, and who else? Miller makes close to $10 million per. You gonna chuck up Rafer too and expect Philly to do that? Neither team is interested.

I think we should trade him for Paul Pierce

I hear Lebron might be available for the right 10th man, but I'm concerned that he hasn't been playing hard this year...

Philly doesn't need Andre Miller. They're trying to rebuild and we can give them some good young guys. VSpan, Hayes, Luther, and if we need to make the salary fit, I guess either Rafer or Juwan. For the first three, Philly would bite. I know they would. Luther Head may be bashed by Rocket fans, but the league buzz generally likes him. Nobody knows who Chuck Hayes is yet, but I wager after the playoffs this season, they'll know his value as a rebounder. Philly would take this.

might able to get some Justin Timberlake tickets for him...

seriously, I really think VSpan will work his way into the rotation next year, depending on his progress in the offseason. I seriously think Rafer will fall out of favor from JVG and sometime this offseason a move will be made on him or demote him.

So a rookie player from Greece isn't getting anytime on a team pushing for homecourt in the playoffs because the coach simply does not want to develop him? Luther Head played as a rookie because of injury and because he brought shooting to the table, what exactly does V-Span bring to the table for this team?

The fact that Van Gundy has even made comments about V-Span gives me hope for the kid. I've always thought of Van Gundy as a Bill Parcells type coach, its only when he isn't on you that you need to worry because he's given up on you. V-Span is simply not ready to help the team, get over it.

He has ZERO trade value. There is no way that you can package him in a deal straight up unless its for a player that has been a bust, or someone that isn't that good.

I still can't see why people are so freaking in love with this guy. There has to be a reason he is not playing for the team, and that reason is that he is not ready. Now we have not had our whole team together and healthy for a long time and we only have a month to get them to mesh.

Why in the hell would we want to waste time on V-Span? Can someone please explain to me how in the world we are supposed to get our rotation set and give our players time to mesh with each other and at the same time develop the youngsters? Since everyone on this board seems to be a GM or head coach, I'm sure someone will be able to answer that question. Jeezz...... someone of you guys just like to pull stuff out of your asses and just whine about something on here.

Zero trade value? Really? You must be assuming there're a lot of smart GMs out there.

Nothing to comment on regarding the rest of what you said because I personally don't like V-Span either. So you're preaching to the choir.

He was drafted late in the 2nd round, he comes from Europe, he comes from Greece where very few make a leap from, he's fighting his own progress behind the scenes and he can't shoot.

Like you said, he has potential, but a bad contract as well. Patients is more important than anything right now. He's only been here like 5-6 months. PG is not a simple job, he's got a lot to learn before he moves up.

There is absolutely no reason to blame the coach for the development of VSpan. That is VSpan's job. No one can get better for Vassilis, but Vassilis... ...and maybe Spanoulis or VSpan, but only those three. Make that four because we've got Kill-Bill too. Billy makes five. With five names working for him, you'd think he'd be able to succeed, just look at the success of Deke and all his names he has.

Blame the player for a poor showing. Blame the coach when he doesn't make adjustments at the right time. If you read these, Vassilis/Billy/VSpan/Kill-Bill/Spanoulis, let your practice do the lobbying for playing time, your mouth will just put you further and further from the court. That's just the way it is.

......And the nicknames are free. Playing time is not. People pay good money to watch ball and they don't fill the seats because you can turn the ball over. They pay to see the play made again and again.

He's just assuming other GMs aren't on crack. I was a V-Mac skeptic before the season but he's turned out much worse than I ever expected.

Yeah, Don Grahamleone. It's almost certain that V-Span will not have a future with the Rockets. He looks like he might flourish on a young, bad team though.

You don't think Charlotte would take him?

    Vspan's value to the BBS = Jordan+Bird+Magic

Vspan's value to those with bball knowledge = a dozen used condoms and a bag of skittles

I'm telling you guys, Billy King would take him. Dawson would rape this guy. I believe this.
