So, after the Rockets have hired RA as their new head coach what's going to happen? Will it take awhile for him to choose who his assistants will be? Do you guys think the Rockets will make any roster changes or go with who they have? I would really think they would want to a add a better point guard along with a long athletic power forward?

I think the Rox will go after a power foward either in the draft or free agentcy or both, but I don't think they will even look to upgrade the point guard position. Alston is a good as we're going get and Lucas is adequate as a backup. Spanoulos hasn't shown squat, but it seems most people on this BBS think he's a star in the making.

Do you watch Rockets games? John Lucas is horrible, he belongs in the NBDL more than anyone, Spanoulis is actually a star in the making, he can drive in with consistency, pass, and play defence. He attracts fouls too like something I have never seen before.

LMAO at the ROF"S. What part of Raefer's game is "above average"? Wait for it..... wait for it..... still waiting..... hmm still waiting. THIS GUY DOES NOTHING ABOVE AVERAGE. John Lucas is great at his job, that being the third point guard off the bench. If only for the simple fact that he can run the floor and can change the pace of the game. Vspan, well obviously the verdict is still out on this guy. Given the right opportunity he "can" be extremely productive. See the national tournament. Let us all not forget Boki, who would make a nice reserve for this team, and how given the an opportunity in the right system has become a productive player in this league. As for the PF, atleast Hayes rebounds well (above average), moves well without the ball (which translates into easy baskets), and can run the court. JHO makes too much money for his production. I will give you that. Both positions need an upgrade. Period. The Rocket's knew that when they brought in Stromile Swift two years ago and last year when they went after Mike James and then brought over Vspan.

Back to the main post: Obviously the Rocket's will look to upgrade the roster. I can "promise you" if the blockbuster is there, and it benefits us, uncle Les will make the deal (see the Clyde trade, Barkley, Pippen, Sean Elliot etc.)! These guys are gonna make some trades. How big is yet to be determined. In regards to the draft, hopefully they keep the draft pick, take BPA and add a rotation player. Something along the likes of a Devon Harris or a Marquis Daniels or a Josh Howard would do wonders for this team. How many times do you think we have kicked ourselves for trading Najera. While not a starter still an upgrade over what we have.

P.S. For the life of me I still can't beleive that there are people who follow this team and think that Raefer is more than an average backup PG. I am just beside myself on this. That is all he has ever been, anywhere, on any team. You have seen two years of this guy and.... I just don't understand.... (my apologies for the rant)

sure, we won't go after a point and get a power forward. If you want to finish with 52 wins and lose in the first round in game 7 again, thats exactly what you should do.

By hiring Adelman, they just magically became an NBA Championship contender because it was all JVG's fault and Adelman is a superior coach in every respect. Why just the other day up here in Dallas, I heard that the entire Mavericks organization is simply paralyzed with laughter, er fear at the thought of having to face an Adelman-led Rockets team.

What I would like to see the Rockets do is draft smart - get somebody like Josh McRoberts or a sleeper prospect at the 4. Watch the Steve Francis buyout and see if we can sign him. Somehow convince Bonzi to come back to the Rockets. If we get Francis, put Rafer on notice that his starting job is in jeopardy. Develop Snyder more as this guy can be a factor. Hopefully, Adelman will develop young players a helluva lot better than Gumby did and maybe we will uncover a surprise in someone like Novak or even DaDakota's mancrush, Spanoullis.

But honestly, if we have a starting line-up of Francis, McGrady, Wells, Battier, and Yao with Alston, Hayes, and improved Novak, Snyder, along with Head on the bench, I think our team will be stronger. We will probably be killed at the 4 but hopefully, we could be more of a running team ala the Warriors (yes I know that Francis isn't the greatest at running the break). But until we can find a true 4, we may have to play small and be a running team.

Drafting Smart & the Houston Rockets appear to be mutually exclusive. Your big solution is Steve Francis??? ClutchFans has an excellent feature called SEARCH. I suggest you use it to go back and read some of the posts about SF3 before you anoint him as the solution to our PG problems although I was under the belief that Adelman will liberate the greatness that is Spanoulis at the point so we really shouldn't bother to even look Francis' way. And as for Bonzi, the next time I see him will be one time too many.

By hiring Adelman, Rockets fans aren't forced to sleep anymore by mistakingly watching a teeth pulling contest, but actual basketball.

Uh, I know about search. Francis isn't the ideal option here, but there isn't much out there and outside of Yao, McGrady, and Battier, what players on our team would other teams want?? Nothing because they are garbage. I think Francis' post Houston career has humbled him immensely and he would welcome the chance to show that he can help the Rockets get out of the first round. And as for Bonzi, you must have been a Gumby supporter - Wells never had a chance with him. It is very well-known that he flourished under Adelman; we would be idiots to let him walk without talking to him considering his past success with our new coach. But by all means, HillBoy, instead of lambasting and criticizing, why don't you enlighten me and everyone else with what YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE?

I think they should find a way to dump Juwan Howard, he had a great year and played hard, but he's making too much money and this is the right time to sell on the guy.

Good point. For me NBA in that season ends. I'm only checking sites like nba.com sometimes. Let's relax. We have a summer a lot of time to improve, trade players. But now we just have to enjoy the summer and forget about Rockets just for a while. We have another I think even better season (and I hope so) so we'll have time to think about Rockets and be nervous every game :D

i don't think there is a need to have the entire coaching staff assembled before the draft. adleman is here. that's the important part.

lets see how the draft goes. this year they are talking about suing the pick instead of trading it. BPA will be taken.

after that i imagine that we will look to resign our players including bonzi, hayes, and deke. around then the team will be actively hiring assistants.

Who would buy? JHo's performance in the playoffs made him lose the only two fans he had left.

i really hope that he either picks up someone from free agency that can help our 1 and 4 position. what i really hope he does after that or before is try and implement a more fluid offense. remember when yao was out during this season? we basically turned into a run and gun team trying to score more efficiently and defend at the same capacity. if somehow we can use yao more efficiently RATHER than just RELY on him to score then we would be much better off. im sure you all know this by now but we seem to like to just pass to yao and hope we score and i agree that he shoots a high percentage. it doesn't help when no one else is scoring outside of tracy and yao so allowing everyone to be involved in the offensive process/plays will help the team out.
