At the beginning of last season he actually looked pretty good, then all of a sudden he was just warming the bench. I don't recall him getting injured. Did he not get along with Adleman or something? I mean this dude didn't even get playing time then was traded away and he still looked to be in pretty good shape.
He had one or two good games to start the year, but after that it was pretty bad. He just never found his shot with us for some reason, and the defense was simply bad. And I thought he'd end up being our most significant off-season pickup. Oh well, at least we got something good out of it eventually.
maybe it was juss meant to be for him to suck because he eventualy helped us get ron n ron will hopefully help us get the ring
he didn't care on defense. he had no clue how to lead the offense. when the shot clock went to the last seconds he only saw one option: shoot the ball no matter what. i can't believe i was thinking he would be alston's backup for 20 mpg.
This will be the break out season for Mike James 30ppg 15apg. I predict James will become the starting PG of the Hornets. Chris Paul will come off bench to backup James.
His stats are even irrelevant. What was rather obvious was how he single handedly killed the Rockets chances of winning game after game. I still remember that game against the Kings in Sacramento early in the season...it was all I could do to not throw an object at the TV. It wasn't that he was bad on defense -- he wasn't even trying. At all. He just hogged the ball, dribbled it, and then jacked up the worst contested shot imaginable. Then he would just let his man by for an easy layup. Then at one point a shot finally went in, and he started celebrating instead of getting back on defense. Boom, and1 at the other end. I couldn't have been happier to see him traded away.
James couldn't get off the bench in New Orleans, either. The only time he played was basically when games were already decided. Some people think Pargo was good but I think he was overrated. The dude shot sub-40% from the field for his career, much like Alston. The fact that James couldn't get backup minutes in Houston or New Orleans (two teams with serious backup PG needs) tells you all you need to know.
This should help you out http://basketbawful.blogspot.com/2006/03/word-of-day-contract-year-phenomenon.html
he is horribly selfish... he doesn't need to pass, it is better to have 2 or even 3 points than an asist...he is smart
Does anybody remember all of those crazy interviews that Mike James had two years ago about himself being a terror in the NBA for the following years?
Mike James represents my greatest "I told you so". At no point did I ever waiver about bringing Mike James back. I always argued that Rafer was the better point guard ...and took a lot of grief, btw. I liked the idea of having BOTH Rafer and James but if I had to chose one, I'd take Rafer everytime. That's not to say I wouldn't like somebody better than Rafer ...but Mike James was never a good fit on this team.
well i only saw the first 2 or 3 games of the season, and he was playing well.at the time I didn't live in Houston so when i started seeing Rox games again he was no where to be found.
Mike James was a little like this guy on a crowded dance floor. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/yFfq6J-rKns&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/yFfq6J-rKns&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
haha...if you weren't a red rowdie, you probably would have made it into Clutch's infamous (Apology Accepted) signature two yrs ago.
Most people were happy when James came on board. I was too, although wondering if he'd hit his ceiling in MN. To be honest, I was quite disappointed ... I guess he just ran out of gas, and got old before his time. ... sad.
