The Draft is one week from tonight and things are so quiet. I have heard a lot of stuff lately concerning the Rockets with trades and free agents but have pretty much been asked repeatedly that it not be for public knowledge (I get that a lot these days) ... but all still long shots so nothing that really needs to be said at the moment. But, if you thought Houston was just a hot free agent location in 1998 because they had all that cap room, that definitely wasn't the reason. I'm excited about the team and am really hoping the Rockets come away at #9 with the small forward they seek: Miller, DerMarr or Miles. I think there is little shot Miles will be available past #5. Decent shot Miller or DerMarr will be there for the taking. Note: Since DerMarr's workout with the Rockets, the percentage of mocks that have the Rockets taking him at #9 went from 11.75% to 20.56% Just got to hope that Iakovosslatzkiborris TsakildisGuhzuntite, Courtney Alexander, Chris Mihm and Joel Przybilla go before us. A long shot all 4 go in the Top 8, but if so, that assures two of these 6 will be available at #9: Kenyon (nope), Swift (nope), Fizer (highly doubtful), Miles (doubtful), Miller (possible) and DerMarr (possible). That's all I can think of at the moment.... if Alexander is selected at #9, you'd have to think a trade is in the works. Also, don't expect a Croshere-for-9th pick package deal to be possible.... too many question marks on using that selection FOR Indiana and then expecting some sort of deal acceptable by Croshere and the Pacers to work out when those deals can be made (August 1). PS. good to have the lost member of the clutchcity.net family back posting. You were indeed missed. ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET
... But, if you thought Houston was just a hot free agent location in 1998 because they had all that cap room, that definitely wasn't the reason. So..., you are saying a lot of free agents wants to be in Houston? Whoo Hoo!!! PS. good to have the lost member of the clutchcity.net family back posting. You were indeed missed. I wonder who can that be? [This message has been edited by MoonBus (edited June 21, 2000).]
If you've been reading all of the posts today, it's become quite obvious. Perhaps it is best left unsaid, since said party has yet to announce their return. ------------------ - hoopjunkie "when you come in da HOOD... things change."

I thought I recognized that distinctive writing style. The dead giveaway was the use of the word "germaine". ------------------
hoopjunkie, I read a post from today and it was the moniker that I thought it was. I should have researched this sooner because he dropped in and picked right up with the rest of the crew. Mango, Funny because when he first started posting I was thinking for a new guy he has some extremely solid takes. He stepped in right in stride. ------------------ - hoopjunkie "when you come in da HOOD... things change."
It was the Walt thing for me. Noone has as much animosity for Walt than posterX. At first I thought HeyPartner was screwing around, and knowingly playing with that name. ------------------
So obvious! Why didn't we notice sooner? I thought that name was awfully funny looking. Welcome back! Good to read your posts again, whether your name starts with a "P" or even an "O". It seems "never again" is alot shorter than it used to be. ------------------
Achebe, I had the answer by going to a web translating site. I went and found a current posting at hoopjunkie's suggestion and it confirmed what the translating site said. I should have done the translating sooner than today. Mango ------------------ Live long and prosper. Donate blood! Smeg will be assimilated. Now...back to updating The Serious Police Files.

OK, I'm a r****d and I missed the new poster. What is this "new posters" username. Please help me out here. ------------------
Ssshhhhh! we scared him off. back to the post: just to reiterate a thought that MoonBus focused on... But, if you thought Houston was just a hot free agent location in 1998 because they had all that cap room, that definitely wasn't the reason. Clutch, trust me, this makes up for all of the quiet in the world. I was starting to wonder if the Rockets were attractive at all anymore... if they would have to rebuild through the draft, and then maybe pull an Ace next year if/when they can get back under the cap. I'm merely hoping that FAs aren't acting under the impression that the Lakers are so dominant that they should either flock to: a) the Lakers b) the Blazers c) go out East. Can you pretty please give a vague synopsis of your opinions of the most likely FAs. Are there any of quality caliber? Would any adversely affect the up-tempo style that the Rockets currently operate under? Are there acquisitions that would affect the solidity of the backcourt? IMO (and a naive one at that, b/c you have to give to get), stick with a theme. A dominant inside threat may not be outside of that theme, but it sure is difficult to remove the image of a Dream or a Charles getting umpteen million touches to be effective, and then truding up the court to get back on defense. ------------------
This is purely my opinion on the Austin Croshere situation, no sources, just opinion. This team is chocked full of young athletic talent and penetrators that can create for Croshere. His game would seriously benefit from setting screens and roling to the baseline while Francis and Mobley drive the middle or spotting up off of one of their isos. Also, he would be able to get plenty of PT and plenty of opportunities here. Indiana does not possess the types of athletes that can break down the defense at will and create for others. It would be in Croshere's best interest imho to do everything he can to become a Houston Rocket. His game would benefit exponentially from coming here. If the Rockets can get Indiana to agree to a sign and trade of Kenny Thomas and Bryce Drew thats great, but if not, Croshere would do well to take the 2 mil exception and get his payday in one yr. If he really wants to see his game blossom, this is the place for it to happen. ------------------ Check out the Best Source for Draft Info Draftsource.net
