Answer each question before moving on to the next. What is the maximum that you would loan someone? - Random person? - Friend? - Best Friend? - Family? What if you were selling something and they said they would pay you back soon, does that amount change? Would you "sell" someone something worth more than the above amounts? Can I borrow money from you guys? Kidding. The whole reason I'm asking is that, about a year ago, I sold something to a friend, for, let's say, a large amount. I got 1/3 of the money before I sent it. I occasionally talk to this person still, although it's becoming less of a rare occurance. I never specifically brought it up, I'm not that type of person to nag and nag for something, but, after not speaking to this person for over 4 months, I've kinda gotten past giving someone the benefit of the doubt. An email or call in the next few days will likely be coming, but in the mean time, I just want to see responses.
-Zero. -Zero. -As much as they needed and I could afford. -Zero. -Probably just wouldn't sell the item. I'd rather just give someone money if they truly needed it than loan it to them.
Never lend money to anyone, even family. I wouldn't even lend money to my own kids (if I had some). If you think they desperately need the money and you can spare some change, give it to them. Money always tears friendships, family, etc apart.
-1 -30 -As much as they need and i can spare. -Depending on if it is my brother/parents/children the as much as i can spare. if it is other family then 30 dollars.
Well I did a favor for a not-so close friend for the first game of the playoffs. I got 4 tix from Dave .. two for her. She ended up lying to me saying she was working but she really went out of town. So the w**** owes me 56 dollars now, and shes been duckin me since game 1. If all else fails.. do this. <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/c8sW2Qzhh38"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/c8sW2Qzhh38" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
Not so close before, or after? LOL @ the video. I love that episode. I need to go back and reference some of the lines, just in case.
[kinda preachy]"The borrower is slave to the lender." I don't want that kind of relationship with anyone, so like others, I don't lend money. If they need money, and I can afford to help them, I give them the money.
Don't be a wuss, call him up and ask him point blank....... I have a friend I loaned a lot of money to when he was down and out, he promised to pay me back within 6 months. That was 2 years ago....... He is now opening up his new bar in Austin, but we still talk and as long as I know the situation I just let it slide until he can repay me. The money is not as important as the friendship. But being a friend means you honor that relationship with the truth. If he can't pay, he should tell you and not duck your calls etc. And while I wait for the guy to pay me back the rest of the jack, I get free drinks at the hip new club on 8th street across from Gumbos and the Brown bar called the Amsterdam cafe.... Opens July 12th. DD
I used to have shady friends who wouldn't admit that they couldn't pay while ducking my calls. Couldn't resolve it without the "used to"...
No it's not. You don't lend your family money. You give it to them no strings attached if you have it.
Put me in the no-lending camp. I'll give the money out instead. Sometimes, I'll let people call it a loan because they don't want to be beholden (forgetting they would be anyway), but I never expect to see it again.
