the 360 spin into the jump hook. Very unique. And it works. A combo of Scola's spin and CD's big man hook shot. Very unique and obviously a collaborative work between CD and Hill taking notes from Scola. So, where does he go from here? Like Hakeem, he's got to add moves off that first move. The first move off that spin that I can see is faking the hook and spinning back the other way for the little fadeaway that Hakeem used to do. How long will it take to conquer step 2 for Mr. Hill?
His moves look very deliberate still. Not very fluid. It's good to see he's been working on his game though. His D looks much improved, but he still tends to foul a lot.
Yeah it's called the "F'ing Monster" Adelman was way too timid with this kid. Let him get copious amounts of burn all season!11!111!1
mmmmmmmmm, my thought is we are going to sell high on him just like what we are going to do with Brooks.
He needs to set up his jump hook more consistently and he should figure out a move to shoot over his right shoulder too. Some work w/ Hakeem would do some good.
Agreed with Hill adding a fade-away. I think he needs to add 10 lbs of muscle (245 lbs) to improve his rebounding strength while maintaining his agility and athleticism. A nice go to jump hook would be nice too, but I think at this point in his career he should focus on face up and off the dribble moves until he gains his strength for more traditional power post moves. (In other words, improve your face up ball handling, mimic small forward isolation off the dribble moves, and keep doing spinning facial dunks)
RA needs to permanently unchain this dreadlocked beast... there's a reason he was a former lottery pick. I want to see this animal devour Pau Gasol in the first round of the playoffs... that would be quite glorious.
Well, maybe after a couple of seasons Hill will be ready to do that, but he definitely won't be ready this season. Right now, it looks to me like the coaches have limited Hill's arsenal of moves and are expanding it very gradually. I think they want him to work more on defense, rebounding, passing, and playing within the offense rather than think about getting his shots. But his jumper and jump hook are looking pretty good.
Perhaps, he should get some tutoring from the Hakeem Olajuwon. He does have a nice touch from mid-range and has the quickness to be able to move like Hakeem, but it wont be as fluid and as smooth. Nonetheless, Hill would definitely benefit from some session with The Dream.
This. Honestly, I don't know what to make of Hill. He has shown flashes but so did Stromile Swift with his thunderous dunks and blocked shots. If Hill has a future as a Rocket big, he needs to show a better defensive presence and increase his rebounds. I think nobody can safely say what the future holds for Hill.
