So, is the general consensus that we will lose in the 2nd round? (if we get there)

I keep seeing posts about oh we should play this team in the 1st round...

Basically saying yeah lets play them in the 1st round just so we can win a round then get swept in the 2nd round and be okay with everything...

I would be happy to get out of the 1st round yeah but I mean come on, I honestly don't think we'll beat the Lakers in 7 (assuming they'd be our 2nd round matchup)

It's almost as though winning the 1st round is like our NBA Finals....

i don't like that mentality, either.

pretty much. I want the rox to get out of the first round so everyone can quit ragging on us about it. It would be nice to make it past the second round as well, but it depends on our match ups. That, and the rox really have to play flawless on offense and defense to stand a chance against any team.

i dont think so, i think there's 3 ways to look at a team's opportunity, some teams you feel they'll advance past anyone, other teams you feel they won't get past a certain round no matter what, other teams you feel it all depends on the road taken. I think we're the third one, that's why i think there's so much talk about dropping to this seed and figuring out the perfect road for us, etc..

They just need to win the first series. Winning a playoff series can bring a whole lot of confidence to a team. Especially a team with that monkey on its back.
Would help to not play the Lakers too.

Listen, this rockets team plays with more heart and desire than any other of rockets teams in the past couple of years. I truly believe this team can make a soild run in the playoffs because Although Artest is shaky at times, he brings a new sense of toughness and heart to this team that tmac couldnt. This team plays with UNITY, and GRIT. IF This team plays to its fullest potential we can beat any team. YAO will step up in the playoffs and carry this team. This is my rockets team in a long time, GO ROX GO!

I think we should be satisfied enough only if our team makes the second round in May, which we have never achieved since dream retired. I hope our team will move to the WCF next season in order to show our power to these 10's FAs like Lebron and Wade.

I think the general consensus is get there first and we'll figure out how to feel from there.

But yeah its getting to be like NC State in the ACC, knowing you'll finish behind Duke and North Carolina but hopefully finishing better than you usually do. Rockets need to be the Duke and North Carolina again for once.

no. the logic is own LeBron or Wade first, then go to the WCFs, even the Finals and the title.

What do you do when you have 23 million worth of steaming feces rotting away.

It is amazing we are somewhat contenders with that much wasted cash...

why should Wade and Lebron even considering joining a team which is a virgin to the second round? I mean we should show our potential to those guys and attract them to houston. as the fourth most populous city of us, Houston has a real big market that is more than enough to hold Lebron or any other superstar, what we need to do is just to show them our team is not like NY knicks.

You're exactly right.. this is how most people here seem to feel.

You could say that Tinman to McGrady fans is Napalm_black to these fans. (except I dont start as many threads) :D

I think if we get past the first round, all the pressure will be off and the team will have an immense confidence boost simply by finally getting out of the first round and will roll over everyone from then on (hopefully). :)

like it or not, the rockets havnt been past the first round in over 10 years. getting to the 2nd round would be a major achievement in the yao era.

They better learn how to close out games or they will be out in the first round again. I don't like what I'm seeing AT ALL from everyone not named Luis Scola and Yao. Yao gets a pass because the rest of the team won't give him the ball so he doesn't even have a chance to do well or screw up.

The keys to getting past anyone in the playoffs is Aaron Brooks doing his best impression of a real NBA PG and Artest keeping his stupid shots in the last 5 minutes of close games to 3 or less.
