Yep, went to a psych today and was diagnosed with a bi-polar disorder. Nice, right? Put me on some crazy meds and sent me on my way. Time to roll a blunt(you can't ban a personality disordered poster, can you?) and have a brew my dudes. FML Song is probably safe for work as a tattoo artist or something. <object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/hKD2EWLKcNU&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/hKD2EWLKcNU&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>
I did my one of my rotations on a psych ward. Many of my patients whom were controlled on medications lived well-balanced lives...so don't let this get you down my friend.

Care to give us a little background as to how you found yourself going to a psychiatrist to get diagnosed? What did you do, i.e. what were your symptoms?
I just found out one of my brothers is bi-polar. All of these years I thought he was just an idiot....seriously. I felt bad when I found out.
No big deal man. You may be taking meds for the rest of your life, but its not any different compared to a person with diabetes or heart problems needing to take prescriptions for the remainder of their life as well. Do whatever it takes to stay sane and happy.
As a few people have already said, just make sure you stay on your prescribed medications and everything should be ok going forward. One thing though, be careful with "illicit" drugs, they may exacerbate psychiatric conditions. Good luck.
Do bipolar people in Europe, Asia, South America etc. take prescription medication for their entire lives? Just a
