My brother spent some time in Bosnia a few years back. He was involved in the War Crimes Tribunal. There might be some neat architecture (mosques, etc). Learning the culture and history of the region is interesting if you like that kind of stuff. If you discuss history, politics and religion, be sure and let them do most of the talking without interjecting your opinion.
I live in Bosnia, it's interesting country to see if you have someone to show you the "hotspots". I agree with the last sentence, some people on Balkans are ultra nationalistic and I suggest not to argue with them because you surely won't win. The main city is Pristina and the majority of the people speak Albanian on Kosovo. Been there once on 50 Cent's concert.
