I was in New York about a week ago, and just thought id post what I saw. This was my first time going there in almost 10 years, and first time after 9-11.

We parked our car in New Jersey (Marlboro) at some relatives(driving up from Richmond) and took the Train to NYC. I must say, the damn tollways up to Jersey on the Turnpike and at Delaware will kill a person. We payed like 20 dollars in toll. First thing that I didnt know was that All the gas stations are Full serve in NJ, I kept on driving trying to find a non full serve one so that it would be cheaper to fill up. Finally filled up after a good half hour. Gas is pretty cheap up there(compared to DC).

So we get on the train to NYC and get off at Penn Station and get on a subway to the place where you get on the ferrys to the Statue of Liberty. We were walking towards the Ferry and some redneck started yelling, "Your people are not my people" and he starts cursing at us. So me and my brother were like wtf ,and we go up to him, and he is yelling "Go back to your country, This is my land, F*** you brown skin fags" etc etc. So my bro's like, f you biach, this is my country. I live here, these are my people, and the redneck kept yelling and was taunting us like crazy, finally my bro goes upto him and was about to beat him down, and the r****d runs away, then he comes back and i go upto him and was like ima knock you in the face, so the guy starts doin some wierd **** like he was trying to moon me or something, Right when i was about to punch him some jewish family was like, "oh dont mind him, he is crazy, he was doing the same thing on the ferry, leave him alone." Lucky for that idiot we left, and then we turned back and were looking at him and he starts shouting at an asian (chinese) family, who quickly run away. It was sad that there were many security gaurds around and a few cops too, who took him lightly and dint even bother to inquire what was up.

Then we went to ground zero, which was really u know, different, and got some New York pizza at broadway. Ummmmm gooood stuff. WE went to the Empire state building in a bus (got a 7 dollar all day pass, well worth it) then went shoppping along 7th avenue or something. Pretty good deals.

We went right by MSG and went to the train station around 9 pm and went home.

I got a nice deal on some fake watches that look like their real :D

all in all, I LOVE NEW YORK. If you all get a chance to go. GO,,, One of the best cities everrrrrrr. And it was sooo damn active on a freaking weekday, i cant imagine how packed it gets on the weekeds

O ya, we went back to times square around 1 am, and it was lively and awesome. I just gots to say, one of the best cities ive ever been to ( and i been around)

Definately gunna try to get a Job over there :D

Sorry about your weird ferry guy there. It is NYC, and there are lots of strange ones running around.

Anyway, glad you loved the city. I have been living in NYC for over 6 years and absolutely love the city as well. If you like big cities, this has to be the best place in the world, where the mix of cultures and everyday activities is mind-boggling to say the least. If you live in Manhattan, you might have to get rid of your car and live in a closet, but for me, as a single guy, it is totally worth it.

And the funny thing is many people in the northeast assume everyone in or from the south is a racist redneck...

    Talking about NYC...

My weeks here have been great; very very busy. The only complaints I've had are: everythng is expensive (duh!) but worth it; there are some real douchebags here (though predominately some NYU people, many of whom are pricks); and how I've done completely ****ty in the only course I'm taking.

Sad I've only got 2.5 more weeks and I still haven't been to MoMA or the Met this time (but I did go to the Brooklyn Museum twice) and I've only been to a single play. I was VERY happy to see the Astros twice last week at Shea (both times FREE:D), but I haven't made it to a Yankees game this time (hopefully this week).

It's pretty amazing when one day (yesterday) I can be in the whitest environment ever, the Belmont Stakes which was great to see (then again would NASCAR be more white???), and then in a completely different one today when I decided to get stuck in the Puerto Rican Day parade.

And best of all...there are some AMAZING hot females here (of course, how many of them are really from the NY area; does it matter? Nah, I don't discriminate between beautiful women...unless they have a really annoying voice).

yeah, went to NYC for vacation last year

wasn't too bad, except the occasional douchebag street vendor while we were walking from place to place.

and of course the yankees blow goat balls and they happened to lose twice while I was there, so definitely made my week there a good one :)

I make this advice to everyone I hear about that goes to NYC. Take one of your remaining Sundays and go see Asscat 3000 at the Upright Citizens Brigade. If you are willing to spend in hours in line it will be free, otherwise just pay $8 which is a great price for live theatre and you will have a blast. There is almost always 1-4 cast members from Saturday Night Live performing, plus writers from Conan O'Brien or various other funny folk, in addition to some of the most talented performers at Upright Citizens Brigade. It is improv so there is no telling what you will get, but I went almost weekly and was never disappointed.

It is a good chance to do a very local/'real NY' non-touristy thing. You could be even more 'real NY' and go on Tuesday to see Harold Night, the late show, or the Cage Match on Thus. But I don't recommend that for everyone, so I would go to an Asscat 3000 show first and see if you would be up for more.

YES! I keep meaning to go to that.

I was at UCBT last Weds for the Darryl Strawberry One-Man Show (of course me being the idiot, I guess I misread it or whatever as I mistook it as the ACTUAL DS performing, haha). Still, man that **** was HILARIOUS! There's still at least 2 more shows, this Weds at 9:30 and the next at the same time. Don't stay for the gals afterward (Celebutantes?); not funny.

I also went Saturday night for the last part of Sketchfest. I was disappointed since the troop I saw wasn't that great. $10 down the drain, but at that rate it was nothing compared to my losses at the track, heh.

But I definitely need to check out one of these Assssscat 3000 shows.

Oh, I was at Comedy Village (in the Village) on Friday night for stand-up and was greatly disappointed as well. All they could do was try to piss off my bro and I the entire time. They tried, but it wasn't funny. Doubt I'll have time, but I might check out The Cellar or Dangerfield's, but UCBT again is a probable.

Good to hear that you didn't let one bad apple ruin your trip. I'm glad to hear you were able to ignore that moron.
